i hate it when people say no homo in like every damned sentence, rite now im venting and pissy atm so bare with me :P
guess my buddie creed is a “No Homo” Addict because no matter the subject matter he uses this phrase so damn much during any conversation that I want to choke his 95lbs 14yr old ass until he passes out.
I mean our interaction is like the Huey and Riley on the Boondocks he’s always following the latest Hip Hop Craze no matter how inane and stupid it may be as I stare in disbelief at his willingness to look as ridiculous as his Digital Dum Dum Heroes.
This phenomenom is some of the most retarded crap I’ve seen in Fifteen Years [Right with wearing your pants backwards]. Real Men don’t need to constantly remind the company they keep that they are not gay by playing this ridiculous game.
This is some 5th Grader Schoolyard Shit on Steroids that has gone too far and is just getting more annoying and childish with every passing day. Right about now, The essence of Hip Hop is being polluted by this kind of seemingly insignificant frathouse to the crackhouse sentiments underlying the culture today.
Even though idk what i just said, It’s funny that something so playfully tossed around between some people is also taken so serious amongst some that it’s just becomes a truth telling device of the days we live in and the fears and all the other shit of our times.
BUT you forget about what fear is??
Fear is usually fueled by a lack of understanding and it seems we don’t understand much if we keep falling prey to these same pitfalls over and over in our culture. Seemingly innocent ignorance like this usually lays the ground work for future stereotypes, generalizations and hysterias like the ones that exist today. When are we going to grow up?
Seriously braa NO HOMO

Your friend is a dipshit. Also, if you want people to grow up, lead by example and stop letting it bother you.

I think it is pretty goofy, but barely anyone says it anymore where I live. It's funny for the first time, but then it gets retarded and you want to punch the moron in the face.

I can't fathom how any of those phrases require a no homo call. Is this some sort of new craze that I missed?

I agree. Those uses of the phrase are ridiculous. I've used it once when I was being contradicting and silly. I said "Bro I'm gonna fuck you tonight, no homo." It was rather funny, but when used in the context your friend says it is just stupid and serves no purpose in the civilized world.

Is it just me or am I the only one who hasn't heard of this apparent craze? I've heard of the other crazes, such as the "that's what she said", "braa", etc... but I haven't heard anyone say "no homo" often in sentences. Maybe if you're joking around and someone thinks you're saying a phrase regarding homosexuality towards them, then they may say "no homo" but other than that, I'm at a loss about it really. Looking at the examples you gave of it, I'm confused why it's used in those contexts... .

Stupidity is why. Just sheer, uneducated stupidity.

It's not stupidity, it's fear. Fear of being made a laughingstock. It is uneducated to judge a person to be gay from their actions. However, saying something like this is not only sheer ignorance, it's also very offensive. Terms like "homo", "fag", "queer", and many others are hurtful to homosexuals. I could see this as being a joke, but when someone is using it constanly, it starts to get annoying and offensive. Even though I am bisexual, if someone insults me by calling me "homo" or "fag", then I'll take offense.
You must also take in consideration the age of the person and their maturity level. I'm mature enough, and many others here are, to realise that terms like this are offensive and should never be used. But if a person, such as your friend, is like this, it shows his maturity level and train of thought. He obviously finds no offensive remark in this. The best you can do is let it roll off your back and move on, or you could tell him to stop because others could be easily offended by this.

It's not stupidity, it's fear.
It is both. Why be scared of something you know you aren't? I suppose it's also got to do with insecurity.

I'm not afraid to be effeminate. Should I be scared if someone calls me gay? No, because I know that there's no reason to fear being whatever you are. It goes down to that people are ignorant to believe that if they do something that is seen as "unnatural" for one's gender, then they're afraid of being labeled as homosexual. That's why they fear. They don't want to be stereotyped or hated by a majority of their peers.

I wasn't specifically addressing you when I said "Why be scared of something you know you aren't?" I do believe it is a pointless fear though. People shouldn't care what other people think of themselves. I'm probably the most effeminate person I know, people call me gay all the time, I don't care though because I know it's not true.

Never even heard of it where I am, so can't really comment but if it is like every other saying out there, it will die out in due time when people realise its stupid/not funny etc...

no homo is basically an excuse for straight guys to say something gay....
it takes a "gay sentence" and makes it ungay
so for example:
person 1: we gonna bang tonite?
person 2: hell no!
person 1: no homo

Afraid you're not alone, I haven't heard of this phrase before but so far it sounds pretty pathetic and something I'd expect from a 4th or 5th grader, not from someone who is in high-school or university.

Contact an admin, there's no reason to take it in public.
Anyway, I've known for a few months that people use it, although it's rarely used in my area.
