question - Im choosing between an ipod touch and a PSP 3000, and i'm almost swayed towards the ipod, but I've only £150, so it'll be an 8GB, and I was watching a youtube video, and it said the 8gb version is still 2nd gen, so it has a slower processor. is this true? is the ipod touch good in general?

hm...idk bout all that technical stuffs (or the price for that matter....i got mine for $220...which would be about...133 pounds maybe? idk...googled it lol) but i got my 2nd gen 8 gig ipod touch just a few months ago and im happy with it. it does all i need it to do, musics (of course), got a few vids on it, email, facebook, internet, i even got an app for my msn messenger! hehe. idk bout the PSP 3000. dont really kno what it is. but, im happy with my ipod.
i guess it might depend on what u want/need...
hoped this helped a little bit more than it confused you...lolz

I've had an 8gb Touch since November 2008, and its great. Brilliant for nearly everything. You're gonna want wireless in your house to use it completely; for the internet and everything. Definitely a good buy. And there are thousands of free apps.

so this instead of a PSP? I got wireless. what free apps, and what about the gen differences?

There are only 2 generations of the ipod touch so the only difference is the memory. I've had both an ipod and the psp 3000 and I prefer the ipod touch you can just do more with it.

what the 3G then in ipod touch? or is that just iphones? pretty much convinced though now, 2 questions, how delicate are they? and what apps are good, specially free ones, but both paid for as well.

well for delicacy.....kinda yeah. ur gonna wanna get a case for it. id recommend a hard case, with a screen cover. i just got a crappy sticker for mine, and im sure the back is ok under the sticker, but my screen is scratched to hell. so a case is something you need to include in you budget

yeah I reckon I can stretch to £180 for an itunes card and a case. 99% decided now

There is a 3rd generation iPod Touch. It is the same as the 2nd generation except it has a better screen, and there is a 64GB version for $400.

They are tough enough, just don't drop it frequently on hard ground, as the entire faceplate is glass, and, you know, glass breaks :P.

Free apps: Google Earth, Blocks Classic Lite, Bubble Wrap, Cube Runner, Space Deadbeaf, Dictionary, F-My Life, Facebook, iCopter Classic, Twitterific, USA Today, Free Translator, Usually local news stations have apps.

Paid Apps: Blocks Classic, Kitty Kannon. I don't have many paid apps, so I can't really help there.

I'd recommend getting some sort of case, at least something to put it in while transporting it.

That's interesting I really didn't know that.

Also yes they have a speaker that's pretty good especially when using the i-Gun app. But like said before get a hard case my brother dropped mine and cracked her screen.

You'll get a 2nd Gen most likely but if you're still unsure just ask when you get it to be completely positive also the speaker is good but it's better with headphones.

but it will have the speaker? cos one of the things that annoyed me bout the ipod was no external speaker. also what tv shows are up on the store and how much are they?

All the iPod Touchs for sale now have the speaker, as for TV shows, take a look yourself. Just about every show you can think of is on there. From a quick look it seems that the price is about $2 per episode.

You should jailbreak it.

The Batman
November 30th, 2009, 11:45 PM
Jailbreaking voids the warranty even though it's not illegal and the only way to undo it is to restore it so if you're going to do it you really have to be sure it's what you want.

MadManWithaBox

I don't know what jailbreaking is, but I imagine its similar to hacking so thats a big no no. I'd rather pay for my stuff, support the company etc. 1 final question, do they still do the 16GB one? I can't find it on any website(I'm gonna buy in store, but I'm looking for price reference)

The Batman

The smallest they have is 8gb but it's worth it.

MadManWithaBox

yeah I know but I have 12gbs of stuff. so 16gb is ideal

The Batman

Shit I read that wrong I thought you said 1 GB XD

Yea they have a 16GB one if you can't find it in a shop then you can get online it'll probably save you money too.

I might try a refurbished one maybe. depends, getting it 2/3RD gen is quite important. Its cheap in cex, but it'd also be rubbish condition for so cheap.

You can get a refurbished 16G 2ng gen for 200 USD which is 120 Pounds. (I know this because I just used the Convertbot app on my iPhone XD) So refurbished seems good.

I've had some trouble with refurbished stuff from Apple that they would fix even though I had Apple Care. So if something goes wrong Apple probably won't even fix it. They always find a way to say they can't cover it because it's your fault.

As for getting a case I say it's rather pointless. I got 2 and they just get in the way. I do have a really nice screen protector that doubles as a mirror on my iPhone though. That's all I need.

I've also dropped it many many times from up to about 6 feet and it hasn't phased it at all.

If you're looking into a case to make it look different then I suggest you do what I do. (I voided my warranty a long time ago so I figured WTH)

I sanded the chrome bevel around the and the whole back of it. So instead of being a shiny black phone it's a matte black one. It looks really cool with the brushed stainless steel look of the chrome and the mirror screen.

Overall I say get the Touch. It's much more fun and is more practical.
