hello,
after not cutting for a few months, i've sadly gotten into the habit again :(
and the school counsellor at my school has given me an elastic band to twang at my wrist when i have an urge - i've had it for quite a while now. The thing is, whenever i do it, i feel really disappointed and it makes me miss the feeling of cutting to the stage where i feel like crying  sorry if that sounds a bit strange..
so if anyone has got any other ways that they cope with cutting, or any other form of self-harm. that would be really helpful, thanks :)

If you read this thread it will give you suggestions and ideas that will distract your mind for a while http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/announcement.php?f=16&a=52
Have you been talking to your school counselor about why you've started again? because if you haven't it may be an idea that you should because that way he/she can help you out..Talk to him/her about how the elastic band flicking thingy makes you worse and he/she can help also.

Well ... Really, if you have gotten back into the habbit then lets be quick and stop again. Think about how hard it was to quit the first time and the sooner you stop the easyer it will be.
Probally the best thing to do is to distract yourself and keep yourself buizy : )
xx Good luck : ) xx

The list are good distractions.
If the rubber band is producing more urges, get rid of it.
Other than that, do something that makes you happy, we all have something, but do that until the urge passes. Or, do something to get that feeling out, write, draw, anything that can get the feelings that you are having out so they aren't eating at you anymore.
Just don't give up, you've gone a couple months before, you can do do it again, and for even longer!

idk if it will help but I know when I was seeing a councilor. He used to cut really bad, and he told me that when I have the urge, to close your eyes and imagine yourself cutting and imagine the blood, and the way it makes you feel. Like picture it in your mind as if your really doing it.
another thing he had told me to try was taking a red marker, and use it was if your cutting. Seeing the red marker on your arm sometimes makes the mind think it's really blood.

I've heard of that, and also red food coloring. That way its actual liquid.

You can but it stains your arm, well it makes it go red and it is quite hard to get off. So is the marker pen :) x

yes i do :) ok squeze a frozen oragne, hold ice cubes in you hand, and drawling on yourself with marker. Calling a friend up, and playing upbeat music can work
