i think i was hacked. on 5-4-06 i was downloading the naruto anime series and then it happen. i got this new antivirus called spyfalcon which i didn't even heard of or download. then when i went to internet explorer, i was at the spyfalcon's website and it had all my information including my IP adress. then at netscape my homepage became a porn site. at the bottom right there's a pop up that says "your computer is infested!" then it was doing a scan and says i have over 20 spyware. i know i don't have any spyware thanks to Zonealarm. after i just saw that, i immediately brought my computer to Comp-USA and asked them for reformat. damn it costed me 119.99! i had the 3 disk and it tooked them one day. i should've done the reformat myself.. now i know... Bit Torrent Files are dangerous and also going to porn sites.

Wow ya, thats some pretty bad stuff. Thanks for the heads up about Torrents, but i am careful of what I download. I only download things that have lots of health and good comments.

careful friend, i've learned my lesson. i think i should stick to
"rent it, like it, buy it" becareful when you look for seeds, try and download the ones with the least amount of peers cause they are the ones who can see your IP address. Plus i paid for my computer so its like a brother to me. right now i'm using my sister's computer.

when you purchase your computer, it should come with a windows disk. it should be wrapped in a green looking folder. you put the disk in and follow instructions i think, after the computer is reformatted you should have 2 other disks. one is a motherboard and one a video card disk unless it is integrated.

for most computers a simple reformatting would be inserting the operation system disk (Windows Disk) and a screen will come up and its pretty self explanitory from there. this reinstalls Windows meaning wiping your comp of pretty muche vertyhing and reinstalling the basic operating system. then u have to reinstall all the drivers so i dont reformat mine. i just stay careful on what i do

Come on now, Felix... Linux and Mac both can be scripted for, and that means a virus can be written for them just as easily. The only thing is, since Windows is used so much more than the others, viruses are written for it much more. All you have to do is get an antivirus, update it weekly, and you're set. Oh, and sorry, I didn't read the first post in this thread, so I'm just assuming that you caught a virus :D

well as it says in my sig... Microsoft's war against software piracy will have the same results as Bush's war against
terrorism. It's simply a battle that can't be won.
