When it comes to anorexia
there's a strong gendered division in our society
boys don't seem to have a voice
but I'd like to say to anyone here who's having problems battling this
You aren't alone

i'm glad the UK decided to shed some light on the body image issue for males, like u said typically the focus is on females but i feel there is just as much pressure on guys to look a certain way

and there is pressure on everyone to not be overweight, which is good but the pressure drives ppl go about becoming health the wrong way sometimes, leading to another unhealthy extreme

i think people shud work on fixing their emotional/mental issues before they try to fix their physical ones

i'm still watching this.

The place is putting a lot of focus on gaining weight, rather than why do they want to loose weight. more of an observation than anything else.

Never realized some of my habits with food werne't.. normal. it's news.... Meh.

I think it's incredibly important for people to realize that this is not just a female disease.

I saw a documentry on some teen girls battling with anorexia, and I think I've also seen one with a few teen males in it too. Either way, I can't personally say I've experienced an eating disorder, but symptoms of what I do suffer from has affected eating patterns slightly in the past. It must be absolute hell for anybody suffering with an eating disorder. When I've got time I'll definitely make sure I watch this, thanks. Repped a few people in this thread too, good posts guys.

I've never actually heard of male anorexics before, now that I think about it.

Of course you haven't. It's brushed under the carpet as a "girls illness".

Because "girls are pressured to be thin, boys aren't", despite the fact that an eating disorder is NOT about weight (and that statement isn't true_

Mental illness doesn't know a gender, class, race, or religion.
