I really like private school. There are around 550 students in my high school, compared to around 3000 in other high schools in my area. The teachers know me, they can tell me grades without having to go look it up, usually.
Sure, its expensive, but I think that it is worth it.

Couldnt stand it. Was bullied there badly. Left school this may, best thing that ever happened. I got into mine on a sports scholarship.

I disliked mine save for 2 people in the school. So I withdrew and got my GED and am in college at 16. It's way better.

I never went to private school (except for pre-school, but that's because pre-school was free, we couldn't afford to send me there for grade school). I can understand frustration with school in general though, high school was a pain for me.

I actually did the same thing as Jeff, when I was 16. Still have to get my GED though. I don't know what the laws are in New Mexico, but apparently they're different than here, you're lucky. I couldn't get my GED until 18, so now I have to find out when and where I'll be able to do that. Instead, in California there's something called the CHSPE (California High School Proficiency Exam) which isn't the same as a GED but colleges in this state have to accept it in lieu of a diploma. The GED is just in case I move, and so I can check that "Do you have a high school diploma or GED?" box on job applications. xP

I went to one for a while. It was a catholic, strong conservative presence. let's just say, that being an outspoken liberal and an atheist didn't help me at all.

i go to a private catholic school and love it, there is a mass once a week that makes me miss out on either double maths or english, so thats awesome. The teachers are generally fair and good, except one.

I'm actually shocked at this. You should be glad that you go to a private school, I know I am. The state sector was absolutely shit in my experience.

American and British public (state) schools are very different.

I hated private school. Five years of being told to be the same as everyone else, that I can't have an opinion, and I ended up not learning to write (more so than read, but I still struggle with that sometimes) properly, along with having NO science or history.

I know not all private schools are this fucked up, but I'm glad I'm out of it

I went to a private school for grade 3 and 4, personally I liked it, all the teachers knew me and I new all of them, they were a lot more strict with bullying so that didn't happen as much as now, and everyone knew everyone. It was perfect.

This is one of the reasons I couldn't wait to leave. There was about 90 people in the high school and everyone knew everyone. It was so annoying. The drama was endless and stupid, the students were shunned from anything different, and the teachers were mindless idiots who couldn't teach.

I went to both, public and private schools. The private school fortunately was a secular one and it wasn't extremely strict about what to wear, basically greyish to black pants and a school shirt, usually a golf shirt. You also had blazers but you don't need to wear them in class and although it's technically needed in the hallways, you got away with it most of the time. You were of course nagged to hell to keep your shirt tucked in, collar down, etc... .

Every other Tuesday you'd have assembly so in the rules you had to wear a dress-shirt (white, doesn't matter where you get it from) and the school tie. Of course, many people didn't but they'd get in shit only if you did it several times.

One thing I found with both public and private is that it doesn't matter how big they are, you have your own social world of friends and the collection of people you refer to as assholes. There were snobby people in both schools who would flaunt their wealth especially in the private school but in response to that I would flaunt my grades to them and tell them that they're money cant buy everything, including grades.

The private school was of course more strict on what to wear such as hair colour and such, even if your backpack had something on it and that did get a bit annoying. Many of the teachers would usually want you to go with their views and not give an opinion that opposed others but I found some friends (all but one who is still at the same university as I am now) who would state our opinion even if it meant offending others.

Some of the teachers were complete morons but then again, some were complete morons at the public schools so I think that's about even.

Overall, I liked the private school.
