Don't really know where to put this...
Just a quick post,
Yeah, it was stupid of me and I shouldn't have done it. There are reasons as to why...
This morning, I took 6, 500mg paracetamol and then half an hour later 2 more. About an a hour and a half after that, I took another one, then 10 mins later final one.
Please don't ask why because it does really sound pathetic, it wasn't to end my life, I don't think.
I just want to know something. I didn't tell anyone because I was ok, just felt a bit sick...
But i've read about it, and found you can cause many more problems even if you seem okay.
What should I do...

You need to get a liver function test done to make sure you haven't damaged it.

At the docs?
You sure there isn't anything else instead haha, I can't imagine telling anyone what i've done tbh.

Yes, at a hospital by a doctor.
There is nothing you can do to (a) neutralise any paracetamol in your system or (b) assess any damage that has occurred.
May I ask, why did you do it?

Well, it started as thinking I wanted to end it, thinking it was the easy way out...
After taking the first 6, I suddenly thought like, oh shit what am i doing...
Then after it didn't effect me much I thought again I wanted to hurt.. i wanted to be gone! Yeah it does sound stupid but, ah well. It's my mind at the moment.
I'm going to see my psychologist on Friday morning, do you think I should tell her...
What could happen if I left it?
Thanks btw.

Yes, you should tell her.
Keeping things like this from your psychologist only prevents her from helping you properly. Can you really hope to gain any true benefits from therapy if you withhold such important information from her?
If you leave it then you may or may not become sick. This depends on things like medications you are currently taking, your alcohol intake etc.
If you are lucky enough to not become sick within the next day then any damage that may have been caused will remain a mystery to you until you need a LFT in the future.

You should tell your psychologist this, but realise although there are confidentiality loopholes. If a psychologists believes that you will harm yourself or harm others then they can tell your parents. I agree that withholding this sort of information won't be good for your therapy sessions.

The damage has already been done now so there isnt really much things that anyone can do. Taking regular overdoses is extreamly bad for you and will poison you. Im not trying to make you not go to the hospital but ... if you go there then they will think that you have tried to commit suiside and they will keep you in over night. This is a precoution as they will need to check on you. If you ever do it again then the best thing you can do is make yourself sick, quickly. Then go and tell someone. They will need to take you to the hospital so you can get checked out :) xx

Yeah, I shouldn't be saying this. But the chances are you'll be fine. I took 16 the other week (long story) and I have a friend who took 8 paracetamol and 8 ibuprofen (don't ask). She went into hospital, and they said she was okay. But in all fairness, just because we were okay, doesn't mean you are. Everyones right in saying you should get checked out. But its like Amy said, the damage has been done now, not much can be done to reverse it. I suppose the best thing to say is to not do it again. Its probably taking regular overdoses that does the damage. So just don't do it again and you'll be fine, also like Amy said, the hospital will get the wrong idea. Another reason not to do it again. PM me if want to talk to someone anytime,

Thanks everyone,
I haven't told my psychologist, but I've been put on anti-depressants for another reason, hopefully these will help.
Thanks again :)

Liver damage from a paracetamol overdose is not just associated with regular overdoses. The general medical advice is that 10g (or 5g if they have certain risk factors) is the threshold at which one needs medical treatment. Since the OP took 9g, it would have been better to be safe than sorry.
And you can take paracetamol and iburopfen together as the two do not interact with each other.
Thanks everyone,

Thanks again :)I wish you had. How can she help you if you are keeping her in the dark?
The anti-depressants put you at greater risk of liver damage, so don't overdose on paracetamol at all from now on.
