Nod32, read their reviews and check out their comparisons, it is very resource friendly, picks up viruses perfectly and rarely gives false positives:

I have used Avira and Avast. Both are free. Both are good. Much better than Norton anyway...

Anything that isnt Norton... There is your answer. AVG has been good to me, so has Avast. :)

The free ones suck I used Kapersky and liked it. But since I don't really do to many high risk things I don't use any windows defender is enough so far.

This.
It runs on the same engine that Windows Live OneCare did.
Speedy as hell.
It picks scan times dynamically, meaning, it won't start a scan in the middle of you playing games, watching a movie, or browsing the web. It will try and scan when you're NOT using the computer.
Leaves a VERY little footprint on your system resources.
Ect.
It's what I currently run on both my desktops & my laptop.

I use AVG currently, it's never let me down and runs just fine. I used to use NOD32 but I think that's gone downhill.

I'm using McAfee simply because it came with my laptop. Does everything I need it to.

I have Norton... I hate the hell out of it... Last computer had AVG, and it was GOOD.

I'd choose either Avast, MSE, or AVG. Disregard every other post saying otherwise.

ZenOK Free Antivirus (http://freeantivirus.zenok.com/) is pretty slim and doesn't slow your computer to a crawl like other AV software, and it is very effective.

I have used AVG free. Not because it is free, because it is better than multiple paid antiviruses.
I have used AVG for 4+ years. I have never had a problem with it.
Ive even scratched my norton subscription to change over to AVG.

ESET NoD32, and I recommend it to anyone. Why do I like it? Because it's just too good to ignore.
