That's an alternate album cover for the Metallica song "I Disappear". It pictures their old bassist, Jason, who left the band shortly after recording that song. The lyrics of the chorus always remind me of him.

Same old bass player. I spent some time on this one. I love it.

Probably some more stuff to come later, I just got Photoshop and have been trying out some cool stuff. Let me know what you think!

In the first, particularly, work on erasing the background more cleanly.

Use the paths tool instead of the erasing tool. It'll blow your mind when you get good at it.

Thanks for the advice. Ive been using the Magic Eraser tool (I have CS3) My art teacher taught us this way and it doesn't always work so well. I'll try the path tool although I do not have much experience with it.

They seem OK, a bit generic, but good work!

i either cut out the back ground with the lasso or I cut out what i want and paste it to a new selection with a transparent backgorund and just choose what i want later. Also it helps copying the original layer incase you mess up you can just delete the new layer to start over instead of having to close then reopen it.
