I'm 14, and I'm trying to become good at bass. I know it's not the most popular instrument out there, but its definitely my favorite. Who else plays?

I do, I am pretty good I play it in my school's jazz band.

If you want to get good at bass, try a genre like jazz, such as Miles Davis, Coltrane, and all of them. Then try to progress. Jazz has to be the easiest genres for bass (or so I've heard from some bass players I know). But, it all depends on the player. Just don't try to get into heavier and faster stuff until you get down the basic beats.
