question about keyguard (cell phone)

So today Alltel went bye bye for good (charging $3 if you pay in cash! gth Alltel) so today my mom bought me a prepaid cellphone. Because at the moment we did not want to go all out on a phone we got the cheapest one walmart had, a $10 Kyocera Jax (Virgin Mobile provider). Because this phone is not a flip phone I like to have either the "lock" or the "keyguard" turned on while it is in my pocket. The problem is that the lights do not go off when the keyguard is on. Will using keyguard drain the battery?

what do you mean the lights dont go off?

I have a RUMOR 2 through virgin and i use the keyguard
the lights in mine turn off after a few seconds

call virgin and ask them to help u fix the problem

its a virgin mobile....the settings are all in order. on the screen it just shows the keyguard image (as seen below). it dems after a while but does not go off.

got to looking on my phone a little, under the information icon for the keyguard it says it MAY override the duration for back light time. wtf?
