This is not a social networking site. It is a Help and Advice site. If you want something that acts, looks like Facebook, join Facebook.

:D Many members are trying to get a more Facebook/Myspace feel to VT nowadays. It saddens me that they can't read old threads about Facebook like things.
VT is much more then Facebook.
VT was started as a Help forum. It won't change too fast. Come back in another 10 years you never know.
Thats if VT is still going, hope so.

Uhm, excuse me? it was just a suggestion do you see me going ahead and changing anything. Judging by other posts, you apparently have some huge fucking chip on your shoulder coming into my thread and telling me what to do, do i need to rub your face in the fact that it was a suggestion? And where at all does the flashchat have anything to do with the VT suggestions? Also, you dont need to be a smart ass and say "oh how many times do we need the same answer to this post." Stop acting like a moderator, and become more like a kind citizen to the people of VT and dont boss them around like your the boss got it?
Moving on from that moronic reply, i was just saying if we were to have walls on profiles that you could say hey whats up maybe would be cool, apparently the people of VT dont see it the way i do, so since that idea wasnt hot maybe we could have games. they could be educational to a certain extent and it could be a fun way to earn points, and challenge friends. anyone think this might be a good idea?
And to add to that, this is a help site and we have people with some big chip on their shoulder who are strong headed calling people "noobs" and starting arguments in a suggestions box...someone really needs to put a stop to this.

scrap the educational part, i agree, a games page could help relieve stress,
but then you will have those who argue "VT isnt for games" well no, but we have an arcade correct?
some actual games would be fun to compete with the people who actually played.
im not trying to become public enemy numero uno, just agreeing with the games part

This is a H&A forum. You want facebook, go to facebook. You want games go to AddictingGames, or an actual arcade. The VT Arcade is for FORUM games, like responding by posts and what not.

There are gaming arcade systems that can integrate with vBulletin easily but we're talking games like tetris, pac man, breakout, etc. I'm not sure what your expectations would be on the type of gaming that can be here but its nothing but simple games.

VT is fine as is if you want facebook then go to facebook
now games night i quote "might" be ok but if VT was more like factbook then i would be even more addicted to VT than I already am.

VT is not only a help site. It is an online community, where teenagers can discuss their problems and in essence, help each other. However, anything that will make our members active and happy should be considered. If games is what they want, give them games.
That being said, games is not what drew me to VT in the first place. If people join VT for the games, that's fine, but they'll fail to realize the true purpose of VT and the strong community it is consisted of. They'll miss out on everything that is already great with VT.

You know, I don't see the purpose in the whole wall idea. I mean if you want to keep in touch use the PM system or MSN. However the games sound like an ok addition but they'd be too simple and not hold people's attention long enough to keep the purpose of the games anyway. I got an account here for the purpose if the forum. Not to play games.

Calm the fuck down.
coming into my thread and telling me what to do, do i need to rub your face in the fact that it was a suggestion?
1. You posted the thread, so he has the right to come in and give his opinion. Regardless of yours. It's a suggestion, this part of the forums is used to voice suggestions. Therefore, if people disagree they can post and say they do, so the admins can decide if it's worth/possible to implement it.
Stop acting like a moderator, and become more like a kind citizen to the people of VT and dont boss them around like your the boss got it?
2. Why shouldn't he act like a moderator. The mods are basically just members of VT with extra "powers". If everyone acted like a mod then this place would be much better. You have a go at him for having a chip on his shoulder then you say "dont boss them around like your the boss got it?" if he has a chip on his shoulder. What do you have, the whole fucking potato?
And where at all does the flashchat have anything to do with the VT suggestions?
3. If you've been doing something out of order in another part of the website (which apparently you have been) and it links in with this post. Then he can mention it and challenge you about it.
Also, you dont need to be a smart ass and say "oh how many times do we need the same answer to this post."
4. He was copying what Maverick said. It was a bit of a joke, just calm down. Besides you wouldn't of said that to Maverick. I know you wouldn't
I completely disagree with turning VT into FaceBook. Why not make friends on here through the PM system and then add them on facebook?

However, anything that will make our members active and happy should be considered. If games is what they want, give them games.
That is a terrible argument. If we made everyone a mod who wanted to be, there would be a ton more happy and active members. That doesn't make it a good idea.
This is like taking a toddler to the store and them stamping their foot because they want candy but mommy said no. It's not needed, it's never been in any particularly high demand until now because the idea was presented, and the long term benefits will be negligible at best. It'll be really fun and exciting for a few weeks, maybe, and then everyone will forget about it and move on to the next candy bar.
Maybe someone will suggest we bring visitor messages again. I'd put money on that.

Right guys, a suggestion was made....if you don't agree with it, simply disagree or leave it.
BenMullet, if you want to know to why moderators are more than just members with more powers PM me, but if I'm honest if everyone acted like mods it would be deemed "back seat modding" which is not permitted. If you see a problem, report it and a mod will decide to take appropriate action, staff are chosen for a reason.
If this turns into more of an argument, thread will be locked and infractions will be given for fighting, be constructive to the suggestion and keep on topic. If you cant do this, don't post.
Class this as a verbal warning before posting.

It's still open because people are still discussing. Personally, I don't like to lock suggestion threads when they're still pretty active like this just because the majority agrees on whatever's been brought up. I feel like it gives off the wrong impression, like no one else can add their thoughts just because five or ten people have agreed on something.

OK, but then that gives the impression that the admins are still undecided as to whether there will be any action. Is that true?

Nick, please don't argue with me over something that's really not a big deal.
Letting people have an opinion isn't the same as saying that the admins don't have one. I've seen plenty of suggestion threads that I know are just going to get shot down, but I don't post saying, "Nope, not gonna happen," and immediately lock them. There's no need to lock this thread, and it'll die down soon enough just like everything else does. It's not a big deal.

I appologise it that was seen as arguiing, that was not my intention. It is difficult if it becomes impossible to persue a line of discussion with a mod without that being interpetted as arguing. I hope you know me well enough to accept that was not my intent.

That's the point. Adding games takes away from the main point of the forum.

I don't think adding games will have a huge negative affect on the forums. We aren't here for blogs or social groups but we have them we aren't here for flashchat and the shoutbox but we have them so games is not going to be a horrible idea.

This has to be the most common misconception about VT. Most users think it's a social networking site. No, it's not. This is a help and advice site for teens with other general discussions. If you want a Facebook feel, then join Facebook. This is a forum, not a social network. So no, do NOT make things like walls and games here, as that would only draw most of the regular users away from the site.

your title tells you the answer tbh.
'more like facebook'
like everyones said, facebook is social networking. heres a help forum. two very different things, that generally aren't and shouldn't be mixed. cool as the game arcade would be, i'm not that sure. guess it would have its uses in some ways, seeing as stupid online games help distract some people from doing silly things.
