If you have it, what do you think of it?

I have just made the upgrade last night to it and I am impressed. I wrote a tweaking guide today of all the annoyances I found with it here: http://www.teenforumz.com/general-teen-articles-forum/12447-windows-7-tweak-guide.html#post194259
I like the interface, it hasnt been such a resource hog and it hasnt crashed once yet. I havent had the opportunity to really test it out but so far so good and I must say I am rather impressed with it, other than the nuisances I found with it of course.

I'm still running the RC version. It's SO much better than Vista. It runs well on fairly shitty computers also.

I think it is fantastic. I had the RC running on my old laptop with 512MB RAM, and it was faster than when it had XP. I have a new laptop now and it amazing. Not a single problem yet.

I got W7 on my DET provided laptop for kids in NSW year 9, Its not that bad, the only problem is actually not a problem with 7 but with the system administrator, blocked everything by group policy.... Gahh, But other than that, i love it,

I had the RC and besides a few cosmetic upgrades and it being faster i didn't see it being any different than vista which i already love. However I am really thinking about buying it in a few months if i want it.

Students can buy it for like £30 which is less than half the retail price. So I am actually considering buying a copy of windows
But even the RC is so much more stable than vista. It's a lot quicker too.

The worth thing about W7 is the networking. Everything is just automatic. In XP you had some fucking options at least!

My dad got w7 ultimate from his college for $20. I modified stuff to activate it on my
laptop and his.
I think it's great! Especially the snap and shake feature.
Pros:
- It boosted my index score from 4.9 with An average of 5.2 to 5.1 with an average of 5.5 (6.1 highest)
-Aero Peek with the Super Bar is a great if you multitask.
-Lock/sleep has decreased in time significantly.
Cons:
-Control Panel is messed up and hard to navigate
-Bloatware is unacceptable (trials and adverts)
-No Driver compatable with my Satellite P200's built in Fingerprint Scanner.

Windows 7 was only made because lots of people hated vista, therefore it's good as its similar to vista but microsoft fixed vista and called it windows 7

If you're not currently running Windows 7, there'd better be a hella good reason; this applies to everybody ever.

Um I'm a 13 year old boy who get's paid minimum wage and by that I mean the only money I pretty much make is birthday and Christmas money. Is that a good enough reason?

I'm hoping i'll get it for Christmas. I liked XP better for the speed but Vista for the options... Hope it'll be worth it.

I got a free upgrade disk from Dell and finally installed it. I like it it runs using alot less ram the Vista did, and they overhauled paint. Came with some cool desktop backgrounds, its all good expect the new version of media player i don't like it, but they added a play count option which they really needed.

Should I get it?

If you are using windows vista right now I would upgrade. If you are using windows XP I wouldn't bother upgrading and just wait to use Windows 7 once you buy a new computer.

Fair enough, I might be buying a gaming laptop from one of my friends in a few month anyway.

I now have Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed on both my computers and I...love it! It's so much faster and sleeker than that bloated Vista. I'm in love now.

Yay for new paint :P About time! :D
Isnt it funny how windows went from numbers to words then back to numbers... Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, then NT, back to numbers, 95, then 98, 2000... Me, XP... Vista and now back to numbers. 7. And the next one (Named Windows 8 from noted in a windows meeting -sorry no link-)

I think XP users should wait until the first Service Pack to upgrade.
