View Full Version : Though Empty I Faltered [Poem]

Four A.M. reads the analog clock
As I wake from bed and switch on my lamp.
And as I try to think distant memories become blocks
Of time that make me wonder why the morning grass is damp.

I sway through empty shadows in a forest of deceit,
And upon my departing the flowers start to wilt,
The forest of deceit, my one, my only retreat
Becomes a deathbed of emotion, a corner of the world, at a tilt.

As all that was slides off, because--
Because though maybe it could've been saved,
No one was there to pause
The blocks of time, and those who could've were too depraved.

And just because I left my haven, the place I called to her,
I found myself empty, and though empty, I faltered.
