Hello everyone, I wasn't sure where to post this but I figured that it concerns women and expression of sexuality, so it seemed appropriate to post it here. Sorry to the mods if I'm wrong. Please move me if I'm not where I should be. Now to the thread...
I saw a fascinating interview yesterday on Oprah with the "worlds most famous pornstar" Jenna Jameson. The focus of the program was on the increasing number of women (according to a study) who are watching porn.
I was taken back and impressed by the way she presented herself. She was an extremely articulate and intelligent business woman. She stressed the point that although this wasn't a dream of hers since childhood (obviously) she thinks she's proven herself a good example of a woman who took a potentially bad situation and changed the industry from a seedy, drugy place, to a clean and professional place of business. Unbeknownst to most, she has only had a limited number of male partners. Something she believed helped improve her work "If I knew the person, the connection would come across on the screen."
She had made the point that there is a fine line between pornography and "erotica or erotic porn." Both are graphic sexual images, but erotica awakens a physical and emotional response in the viewer. The bottom line, it seemed, was that porn, she said, can and should be done tastefully. I personally agree with her on the subject. To me, porn is a way of arousing a person and thus opening up a dialogue themselves and the viewed material. An exploration of pleasuring your body if you will. Now she is retired and the mother of two young boys.
I realize that I'm testing waters here, and am fully aware on the sensitivity of this topic, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on the subject of porn, and whether this first hand account from someone in the heart of the industry has changed your thoughts on it.
