so i have this problem with my parents.
they don't know how to knock on a(my) closed door. EVER!
it pisses me off. i cant stand it. i need to fucking put this on something so i can reduce my anger level! it was bad...right when it was happening...UGH!
arent parents supposed to respect their sons/daughters privacy!
sure, im in my room all day but thats because my family knows how to bug me. and they dont like what i like. but still!

ugh...im probably going to talk to my dad tomorrow morning on the way to school since he's the one who always walks in my room...

POSTERS : DONT SAY I NEED A LOCK, MY PARENTS GAVE IT TO MY OLDER BROTHER YEARS AGO.

how about putting up a sign like

CAUTION
Please Knock Before Entering

put it up when you are doing that and your parents will learn

Yeah, my Father (when he lived around here) NEVER respected my privacy. Any parent should have the COMMON knowledge that teenagers have "needs and urges" and knock before entering. I got interrupted multiple times because he just decided to come barging in, thankfully I never got caught.

Heh, I remember one time I started yelling because I don't like to be interrupted during ANY "activity".

Put something in front of your door, preferably something heavy.

Buy one of those hinge type licks at the hardware store for about $2 , put it on your door and lock it while you are busy. It just takes 2 screws and about 2 minutes.

How dare they walk into a room in the house they pay(ed) for! What terrible parents you have...they should be locked up!!!! Start paying rent and maybe they won't walk into the room they own anymore...

That's parents privilege, they can walk into any room they want any time. You can always talk to your parents about trying to knock. Or put a "do not disturb" sign when you are doing something private. If that won't work, let them walk in on you but don't stop. Let's see if they like what they see.

Just try talking to them, ask them to knock, no need to give a reason other than that you'd like a little privacy in your own room.

Everybody need privacy. They pay for the house, that doesn't give them the right to invade that privacy. If i was changing my clothes I don't think I would be too happy if my mom walked in without knocking.

Like I said, start paying rent and maybe they'll stop walking into your designated room in their house. Where the hell do you get off saying they don't have the right to enter any room on their property?

I never even shut my door when I was changing...it takes like a few seconds to put clothes on and cover yourself up. Plus, if they see that you are changing, they will likely move on and come back later.

All you kids are too god damn paranoid about your "privacy" and everything...they're your parents! What's the big fucking deal?

Don't tell me to shut up...I'm allowed to state my opinion. As for you giving them privacy, that's called respecting your elders.

I understand that you want privacy, but you're overreacting here a bit...it's not a big deal. It's their room...you should just be happy you get a free place to live.

Even better. Get a boyfriend and do him with the door open. They'll be so traumatized, they'll never do it again.

If they won't give you privacy after you say that you need it. Then do what I did... Just say, "Why do I need privacy? Do you want to walk in on me masturbating or changing my clothes? Get me a lock, and knock before you enter."

parents dont have to respect any childs privacy. mostly because they are in charge of you and they have every right making sure that you are doing the right things.
they are the HBICs for 18 years. you honestly have to just suck it up and deal because after 18 years, youre in charge for the rest of your life.
some parents are nice and give their kids a lot of privacy and some just dont give a fuck. yours dont care and although it would be nice if they did, they just dont. so you can either ask them nicely, and try to get them to care, but if they dont, just forget abotu it. you only have a couple more years

I feel for you! My door does have a lock(which my parents have the key to mind you), but any time that I am in my room with my door closed be it day or night, they'll just barge right in if I don't have the door locked. When my door is locked and they try to come in, they get so mad at me. It really sucks.
