I just want a quick and easy way! Tried a video on youtube that showed you how to do it but one of the programs would run and get to like 90% and then die :(
Any help appreciated! :) xx

You need a file converter. DVDs are a lot harder than videos that are on your PC, I very much doubt you will find a freeware program to do a dvd file for you.
If you can convert your film already to .AVI/.Mpeg find a converter via google that converts a video file to MP4.
Note: quality on free programs/websites will be poorer and more likely to go out of sync.
hope this helps.

Videora (http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/) will do it. It's free, easy to use and it's been around since the early iPod video.

Handbrake and DVD shrink
DvdShrink for breaking encryption on dvd (please remeber thats illegal), and to bring a dual layer dvd to 4.7gb
Handbrake for the actuall encoding to mp4 for ipod
