Of course it's an infringment if you look at it from that perspective, but unfortunately, you get too many domineering hypocrites that say that despite everything that they've aid about freedom including the way in which people dress, delude themselves into believing that nudity in morally wrong.

Yah... I think people just need to chill out. Especially with making laws against things that hurt no one. Nudity... gay marriage... idk.
Maybe nudity would take off some of the huge importance our society has put on sexual intercourse.
my opinion. that's it.
btw, I agree with you. :p I wouldn't have ever htoguht of that.

They made laws against it because people started to complain, the act which governments call it is public indesentcy, many old people would be offended, many parents wouldn't want the children being exposed to naked people wondering around, and people could be afraid it would lead to more peadophiles.
However, there are some people who belong to nudists clubs, they usually have the authority to walk naked as long as they keep to certain conditions.

I'm a little conflicted on the topic.
Yes, the human body does not have to be seen as sexual or something that we need to cover up. It's nothing to be ashamed of, yatta yatta, all that good stuff. But, outside of nudist retreats and one's own home, I don't think we should all walk around naked all the time. As far as an infringement on our rights... I don't think it was a right the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the Bill of Rights. People were even more conservative then than they are now. Also, calling it "public indecency", as you put it, does indeed imply that something is wrong with it, otherwise it would not be considered indecent. "The right to be indecent in public," then, would not make a very feasible amendment to the Constitution. xP
Making it legal to walk around naked would have its drawbacks, including the fact that in most places you can only really do so in the warmer months--the rest of the year it's not practical to be naked. Another problem would be sanitary concerns. Even in nudist retreats, you have to carry a towel with you to sit on when you go to restaurants or anything like that. I don't know about any of you guys, but I don't want to sit naked on a chair or a bench that everyone else's genitals have been resting on all day. So, those kinds of rules would have to be in effect.
Also, even though I can argue just as much as the next person that the human body is natural and does not have to be seen as a sexual object... the fact is that it often is. Perhaps if we were all naked all the time then things would change, but it would take generations for that sort of shift to occur. The rest of us are simply too accustomed to nudity being related to sex first and foremost. When you look at that combined with what I said above about nudity only being practical for a fraction of the year, it could potentially take even longer to get used to seeing naked people walking around. The rest of the year it just wouldn't happen much, and if we didn't encounter it in our daily lives it would be harder for things to change.
Personally, even if it were legal, I don't think I'd be one of the ones to immediately strip down and run outside to celebrate. I don't know that I'd ever go out in the nude at all, for that matter.
From a relationship standpoint, letting your partner see you naked is kind of a special thing. You generally start doing that around the time you start becoming sexually active, because removing your clothes tends to make that a lot easier, but I think it's more than just improving access to the "naughty bits". Just like having sex with your partner for the first time is generally considered a special moment in the relationship, I think the first time you allow them to see you with your clothes off is also a special moment. If we were all naked all the time, it wouldn't mean anything.
In our culture, the only time we're really ever unclothed around other people is during romantic encounters or when we're around people that we're otherwise close to (when you don't count changing in gym class, or wearing those silly paper gowns at the doctor's office or any of those situations). Maybe it's because of this that I feel the way I do. All I know is that for me, going around naked all the time wouldn't really fit. I do still wear normal bathing suits rather than covering up a whole lot, and friends have seen me in various stages of undress. I'm not so extreme as to be excessively modest about the skin I show, although I don't go out of my way to show anything off. Being fully unclothed around someone, though, is different in my perspective, and my body is not something that I feel I should just fully expose to the world.

It may be infringing on the bill of rights but then again, many things do also. I know that's not a great explanation but I just want to point out that this issue of infringement on the bill of rights isn't limited to only nudity.
Laws are generally made to keep society safe, at ease, harmonious, etc.... . If you allow nudity then the problem is that it leads to sexual conotations in that people will view others in a sexual manner. This creates issues when it comes to children, elderly and even middle-class and teenage people. People may not feel comfortable if they are looked at in a sexual manner because all their parts are exposed to whomever wants to get their rocks off. More importantly, the person may be able to actually see the person getting off at them. To me that doesn't sound all that great.
Also, it's not safe to do so in many cities because it'd be a heaven for contracting diseases through something as basic as sitting on a park bench. Even if the public facilities were clean, what about the weather? Clothing provides us with some protection against the weather that are body cannot do naturally. Lastly, what about crowds? Not only would it be quite unsafe but it could allow for molestation to occur more.
The answer that some other people gave was that if it was allowed for long enough, then it may become the norm. While that may be the case, there are a few issues. First, clothing and fashion are relatively large industries so imagine if all the clothing and possibly shoe stores just went away. That would put a pretty big dent in the economy. Second, supposing that we did allow nudity, then the question would become, if it is so unsafe and if we are technologically advanced to make ways to protect ourselves (i.e. clothing), then why not do so?
I think it'd be acceptable to have places where nudity is allowed outside one's home, such as nudity beaches. That way both sides win.
