In between two moons
I left my present
Only to find my past
Was a dying oak tree
In a forest of lies.

In between those very same moons
I laid my passion down
In an effort to forget my mischievous regrets.

"Too many times the water fell out of the bucket"
My mother would always scold me.
If only she could see the oak tree.
If only she could see the forest of lies.

But she is not between two moons,
Where I laid my passion down,
And left for a better tomorrow,
Only to find yesterday
Despite being covered in death
Was a much, much sweeter escape.
(And yesterday, as I have discovered
Can only be found
In between two moons).
