someone was talking to me about relationshops with cousins and second cousins etc and it got me thinking bout it and i wanted to know all of your opinions on it... so i made a poll. :) thanks

i am aware of all the inputs about how family may disagree or if get together and hve kids - might have problems physicall or mentally. might get bullied etc...

but anyway, yeh vote in poll :)

umm i'd say i find it unacceptable in all situations

accept where they have been involved intimately for a very long time and then find out after the fact that they r genetically related....i'd say that's ok....as long as they do not have kids

oh, and yea, second cousins ARE genetically related.....if ur cousin has a child that is ur second cousin and they share similar DNA with u....

As long as there is no reproduction, there can be nothing morally wrong with it. However, I think that incestuous relationships most often turn out badly and are inadvisable; that does not make them wrong.

Idk, maybe in general speak 2nd cousins can refer to both heh, but in genealogy, the term is specifically for parents' cousins.

I think it's more confusing for the same phrase to refer to both haha

my honest opinion is that you should stay out of familes. however, if everyone is ok with it then i think from second cousins onwards, it would be ok. but first cousins, not at all, because you are blood relatives.

Why should being blood relatives matter morally if there is no reproduction? Remember, the incest taboo is based on the strong evolutionary reasons not to inbreed.

One possible answer is that incestuous relationships, involving family as they do, are often extremely complex and normally turn out badly. That is definitely a valid argument - but not a reason to disapprove of such relationships a priori, in general.
