Stopping isn't like taking a walk in the park, you have to really work at it.
Talking about the emotions that drive you to self harm can never be given too much emphasis. It helps to know that you aren't carrying the burden of them alone and that there are people who can support you if you need it. Whether they are people you know in real life or people on the internet, it doesn't matter. It's the knowledge that you aren't alone in dealing with these emotions that is important when stopping self harm.
I often found that reading a book or taking a walk around my local park with my mp3 player helped me to resist the urge to self harm. For others, it's holding ice cubes in their clenched fists and watching something funny.
I've included a link to the announcement at the top of the forum as it has a list of over 100 different things you can do when you feel the urge to self harm. There is bound to be something that works for you.

It is all very well distracting yourself but you really need the will to stop before you can actually do it. You have you want it deep down not just because it is really annoying now.
It is also very hard, even harder stopping on your own. You may need to talk to a professional how will be able to help you more than anyone on here.
Good luck xx
