im going to counselling tomorrow, for the first time (only because i told a friend about my self harm, and by his reaction, i have a feeling he has told others, so i decided i should just get it over with.)
im just wondering, if i tell the counseller about my SI, do they legally have to tell the authorities? like a hospital or something?
i feel so stupid for asking but thanks.

They can't tell anyone anything without your consent as you are over 14 :)
Good luck.

I think it depends on how bad your self-harming actually is, if it's superficial or not so bad that your going to do serious harm, then I should think not. If your at great risk, like your cutting very very deep to the point where they believe you are not safe in yourself, then they may consider the hospital, but it's all for your own good whatever happens. It's great your getting help, tell them everything because if you keep things back they can't help in that area. Good luck, PM me anytime :)

They will only tell someone if they think that you are putting yourself in extreame danger
Good luck :) x

As far as my counsellor has told me, she is not allowed to tell anyone (not even parents) unless I'm trying to kill myself, or someone else.
I'm glad you're getting help and good luck. Be honest and try not to stress like I do :P Well done for this step.
