In a distant, shadowed corner, is where the journey began,
From here the path to enlightenment shone its beckoning light,
Illuminating the unknown. Alight, but foreign nonetheless.
And there, a voice was conceived, that preached beauty and benevolence,
Along the shoreline, it carved ensigns of lilies upon the face of indifferent rocks.
Waves crashed into their blessed form, for a moment, taking on a matching essence,
Learned to be calm. They retreated, gently, integrating with their true nature once more.
The fish, within its periphery, danced brilliantly through the waters in worship.
While the sun took heed, and thus granted eternal life
to those who agreed to preserve their sourceless sanctuary.
"In perfection and solitude it shall remain, for the rest of eternity."
Promises, as with existence itself, faded into the threads of time,
Until the traveler, narrowly spotting a fragment of artistry beneath thick layers of moss,
Paused in fascination to uncover the highlight of his experience;
An ancient covenant of oneness, lost for ages to a neglectful reign.
He stopped to rest, here, among the endless expanse of interconnected life,
Where the sea meets the sky, and his beloved stone, day and night he labored
to clear its inspired form of the suffocating growth, yet it was impossible.
Now, the sun was a faint spark behind a barrier of ominous clouds,
And the fish, once the liveliest of animate beings, inhabited these murky waters no more.
Alone, he persisted, with nothing but an intuitive guidance from within.
Even as his exhausted body surrendered, at last, to the enveloping darkness,
He shed no tears, though the ravaged universe seemed to mourn endlessly,
As their final hope for redemption was crushed to immeasurable pieces.
