Ok, heres how it began

When i was younger, my best friend, shot herself

I was devastated

I turned to cutting, that didnt do it for me

then i tried drinking, that didnt do it either

then someone introduced me to these little bitches called cigarettes. I fell in love with them. When i didnt feel good, i could light one up and watch my troubles burn away... for a short time anyway.

Im not addicted, like i dont crave them, but i cant pass one up either.

I want to quit.Help plz?

Maybe when you're offered one chew a piece of gum...my friend used to smoke like nuts until she started chewing gum

One of the best ways to quit smoking is not to be around them, it is avoiding them.
If you're like me, you like them, you dont NEED them, you don't go crazy over them, but if it's near you, or being offered to you, you don't turn them down.

If People go smoke, go take a piss... someone offers you one, chew on a piece of mint gum (so you don't get cavities, :))
and if you give in, have some sort of punishment for yourself, like no computer for a day, or house arrest yourself for a week.
You won't want to keep going, and that whole i'll quit slowly thing, it's BULLSHIT.
Has to be cold turkey, but it's very important that you avoid temptation at all costs.

EDIT:... fixed it.. skipped a few words. xD

save up some cash and get some patches or special gum and be sure to get some support wether it be family or friends just make sure they will help you get through your habit

You seem like a strong person Dustin from most posts I've read about you. For you it should be easy to overcome I think. I mean, you want to which is good, you know what it is doing to you which is also good, and your ready. I think it will take a very short period of time for you to quit.

For most people, eh... not so much. I think in your situation all you have to do is just look the other way, chew gum, or save up money (Just like everyone else said) for special gum or nicotine patches. Hope you take my comment to heart

this is nothin man, if your not getting withdrawal quitting will be like cake, once you get the shakes cold chills and mental hallucinations, and the only thing that takes em away is a drag, thats when you need help
make a serious commitment, put it in your head that you wanna stop
when someone offers you one go on the defensive, or tell them they make you sick now

i don't know if this would work, but try smoking one less cigarette every day until you quit... let me know if this works it might work with other addictions, too.
