Braces

Hey, so i'm considering having braces, i want them because they would make my teeth look better, but i don't want them because others might take the piss, i have been bullied before so am easily effected.

Have any others of you had them? If so what was it like?

yes, i got them now. The first month is hell, you have so many cuts in your mouth. But im getting mine of in like 6 months and they have made a hell of a difference.

as for bullying, it gets old real quick, I got play teased for the first day.

I think you should get them anyways. You will feel so much more confident with nice teeth. after the first month or two it gets easy, and after you get them tightened just take an advil or something.

One actually gets bullied for having braces? Now that's never happened in my experience. Anyway, if you do get braces, be prepared to experience severe eating difficulties which can be potentially painful. However, this will only be a temporal thing and after a few weeks, the absolute worst of your problems should be gone and it will almost be as if they were never there. I know this because I have them myself. Brushing will become a lot more important however since you can easily get bits of food (especially at first) stuck between your teeth. However, if you need them, I'd say go for them, and just hang on for those couple of weeks of being virtually unable to eat anything that hasn't been liquidised first.

i use to have them but its all worth it because your teeth look good after all that. the first few weeks it hurts alot ! and you do get lots of cuts, but he give you this thing for it. If poeple bully you it does get old and then after they won't really care :)

I was bullied for many things while at school but my braces were never one of them.
Honestly, getting them now is so much better than waiting until you have grown up or never having them at all.

I agree with sapphire, i was bullied for most other things, but my braces were never an issue, seeing as their quite common with people our age etc.

really all the trouble and hassle is worth it
now i have em
and have had em for about 4 years
no one bullies one for braces
all you need to worry about is brushing 3 times a day if not then at least 2 times
and don't eat nuts for a while because for the first week they hurt like a bitch
but after that it's like they were never there

They're honestly not that bad. The pain is really not bad -- but then again I've gone through worse -- and it's worth it. I hated when Iwould get food stuck in them, but I got good at doing precise spit shots in my mouth to flush it out. :) And breaking a bracket off sucks. I was supposed to wear a retainer for years after I get them off. but I wore them for 2 months and my teeth moved minimally. I say go for it. But they're bloody expensive. I feel bad for my parents paying $3,000+ for me to have straight teeth. Meh.

almost all my friends have braces and they haven't been bullied at all, and theres nothing wrong with them, who ever is picking on you must be really sad lol :D
