I am a vegetarian. i also avoid eggs if possible (don't like them). Are there any good sources of protein for me? I mean yummy stuff, not nuts and milk (perv moment: that sounded SO wrong!) but anyway, im talking about something you could eat as part of a meal.
My doctor keeps telling me to eat more protein because i am severely underweight.
All help is appreciated!

Well, why not ask your doctor? I'm sure they can recommend a few things.
What comes to mind for me are nuts and seeds (try to buy whole grain breads and pastas), tofu, soy, things like that. Soy milk can actually be really yummy, if you haven't tried it. You mentioned that milk isn't high on your list of "yummy" foods, maybe soy milk is an alternative that you'd drink more of. I like to take a cup and fill it with frozen fruit, usually small things like blueberries or raspberries because they thaw faster and don't stay too hard for too long, and then pour vanilla or chocolate soy milk in. The milk freezes to a slushy consistency and it makes the best snack.
Google also works wonders, try looking up some lists of good vegetarian alternatives for getting enough protein in your diet.

well, wheat, oats and rice have protein according to the vegetarian society, so maybe eat rice as a side dish for dinner or something.

Beans can also be a good substitute for proteins. We try to get my sister to at more of them but she hates beans...

Protein is one of the least things you have to worry about in vegetarian (nearing vegan) nutrition. Everything has protein in it... look at the label. :) You may need 30 to 50 grams of protein a day. About 15% of daily calories. Ask a doctor... or if you hate the doc like moi, there are guides online :p
Beans/ peas, soy products, and milk are good sources of lacto-vegetarian protein. If you aren't used to cooking with these, try recipes from where these are staples or recipes from traditionally vegetarian countries, India.
Meat alternatives (soy) have all the nutrients meat does. They are everywhere and are relatively cheap. I live in a rural place with few vegetarians, yet I can find a large selection of products.
If however cost or taste is a problem with faux meat, a veg diet with beans instead of meat is nutritionally sound with proper supplements and a lot cheaper than a meat diet. Meat is a luxury on a lot of our planet.
Tip: faux meat and fortified soy products aren't meant to be eaten plain... slather something on it! or use foreign recipes
Things you should worry about just as much as protein are: iron, calcium, zinc, and vit B12. Do you take a multi-vitamin?
Are you looking for specific recipes or something? If you have any questions, ask, though I've just became a vegan actually :p
Good luck, hon!
