Hi, I'm doing a bit of research for my College coursework, and part of it is to do with how Hip Hop is viewed and what stigma it has on the world stage today.
So. Now you know why I'm asking this, but what do you all think of Hip Hop? Could you also please give intelligent answers please, with reasons (Or failing reasons, just be polite), stupid responses like 'HA HIP HOP SUCKS COS ITS GAY N!*&@ S#!T' won't be tolerated, thank you :D

I look at hip hop the same way I look at most genres: You have to dig through a lot of shit to find anything worthwhile but once you're there, you'll be glad you did. Also, porridge and crumpets. Ohohoho.

I hate it. It just doesn't appeal to me. I tried listening to it before, didn't enjoy it.

When I was 2, I was brought into preschool one morning singing "Gin & Juice" by Snoop Doggy Dogg & Dr. Dre. You can probably figure it out from there lol.

the phase has passed... to me and all the social groups i know personally, hip hop is just old news. It's just like the Sopranos... it's over. Find a new show (or in this case genre of music.)

There are very few songs that I like, mostly because they all talk about getting money, hoes, bitches, and other stupid stuff.

It doesn't appeal to me because it sounds like they just do it for money and write the same lyrics that every other hip hop artist writes and they proberbly can't count to 1000. There is also no real talent in it as all you need to do is be able to speak fast, there is no point in writing a song that sells, you write a song that matters to you and doesn't matter if people don't like it.

I don't really like it. There are a few songs I may like, but that's it.

I wouldn't really choose to listen to it, but if it came on the radio, I wouldn't turn off either.

Well, I just don't know why it is so popular... I have no hip hop songs on my i-pod and I'll never put there some...It's just not music for me...

Some of it is ok, but a lot of it is crappy. I think this chart explains it quite nicely.

You people remind me of the same stupid, stupid chimps that claim metal is all about screaming and making unintelligible banging noises on drums and abusing electric guitars and worshiping Satan. You're all musically ignorant. I'm not a big fan of rap, but I've at least given the genre a fair chance and I've found good stuff to listen to that isn't about "getting money, hoes, and bitches", and there's a lot more to it than simply talking fast- especially if one is free-styling. Let's see you come up with good rhymes on the spot at a high speed.

Keyword.
I freestyle in my car all the time. Fast? Check. Rhymes? Check. Good? No; just, no. And there is some music I like in about every genre. Hip-Hop included. It's just not my favorite.
