acer laptop help

hey.. so yeah im crap with this, so i hoping you guys iwll know ive been given an acer laptop, and im trying to connect it to the net, but its telling me it wont connect me. ive tried diagnose problem, and its just said try again, still not working, im certain its me own router, i just don't. help?

Is it wireless or through an enet cable?

Its hard to say, could be all sorts of things, have you got password encyption on your network? I'm on an acer notebook, there's a wifi on/off button towards the top left hand side, just next to the Esc key. If thats off you wont get a wifi connection.

its wireless, its say there are wireless connections but i cant connect to them. I'l have a look
