When do girls start having their period?

I was just wondering.

It varies a lot from girl to girl, but it happens sometime during puberty. I'd say on average, most girls get their period between 13 and 16/17, but I don't know what the actual statistics are on that. Some girls can start their period as early as around 9, some as late as around 18.

From what I heard from a health film last year over puberty, it's when you reach 105 pounds. Whether or not that's true or not, that's all I know.

All girls start at different times. Some start when they're young (around 10 or 11) and some start late (around 14 or 15). It all depends. There is never a set age where puberty starts and ends.

Weight doesn't really have much to do with it. It's true that very skinny girls tend to get their periods later than girls of a more average build, but there is no set weight that you have to reach before a period is possible. The reason some skinnier girls take longer to get their period is that there is a minimum body fat percentage required. This is why women who are anorexic and/or bulimic may stop having their period.
