I would say either downgrade, back to your former IE, or go into the directory of IE Beta and delete stmain.dll.
All that i can suggest

Heh, no worries. This should be an easy fix.
Start up Internet Explorer (6.0 if possible). Go to Tools >> Manage Add-ons... In the show box (near the top in 6.0), select: Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer. Find that stmain add-on, select it, then click on the Disable. Press OK and restart Internet Explorer.
That should do it, however, if something needs stmain to run properly, you might experience some more problems... If so, we can work on those as well. :)

Well then, you can delete IE off your system and re-download it. Or a better solution is..Get Avant Browser =D www.avantbrowser.com

Since Avant Browser runs off of the Internet Explorer engine, there might be a problem with that.
If you can, uninstall Internet Explorer 7 (through Add/Remove programs). Then use the System Restore and restore your computer back to a time before your friend installed Internet Explorer 7. System Restore can be accessed by going here: Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> System Restore.
