So I was a cutter on and off for a long time. Like, four-five years or something like that. When things got bad, I'd cut. And when things got a little bit better and I didn't need cutting as my aid to deal, I'd stop. Then when they got really bad again, I'd start. So on and so forth.

The last time I started cutting, I did it on my lower leg. I know I should've gotten stitches for a lot of them, but of course I never did. Now my question is, I still pretty often feel tingling there, particularly on the few that were especially deep. It's hard to explain what it feels like, but it's just...tingly. So obviously the thought of nerve damage has occurred to me, but I haven't been able to find the actual signs of nerve damage. Anyone know if that's what it could be? I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious.

That sounds like something really serious I would go see your regular pediatrician to get best results.

If it's kinda like a numb, tingly sensation then that could suggest nerve damage, obivously only you can interpret how deep it was and you say it was quite deep. Does it bother you alot, like can it be painful sometimes? If this is the case I'd get it checked, just to see if there's anything a doctor can do to (if it is nerve damage) repair it.

But it soaked through about dozen before it finally did. I personally thought it was pretty deep, but meh.

It never hurts, though. Just tingles sometimes. It doesn't really bother me or cause me any discomfort, so I'm not worried about getting it checked or anything. I was simply curious if that was a sign of nerve damage or not.

I think it is a sign of nerve damage yeah, but i'm not doctor lol. Do you have much feeling around that area, or is it kinda numb. And it sounds like it was deep too. It sounds like you should've got medical help when it happened but so long as there is no infection or anything, I don't see what it could do now.

I knew as soon as I did it that the wise thing to do would be get stitches and such, but I couldn't do that without getting put in the psych ward. So I figured, what the hell, I'll just do what I can to prevent infection.

Thanks for your help. :)

No probs :)
Yeah, I know what you mean about thinking, nah... I can look after it.
Glad it didn't get infected etc!
But if I were you, I'd look to see if a damaged nerve can cause any certian problems and such... unless you already know lol.
If it's numb, it is most probably a damaged nerve.
Good luck.
