View Full Version : Worst Stereotype

There is an incredibly large number of heterosexual people who feel that homosexuals aren't able to keep it in their pants, and if they're not careful, a homosexual could try to come on to them. I kind of find this to be extremely offensive. Gays are no hornier than straight people, you hear of guys being creepy and pests to girls way more often than guys hitting on other guys. If you're going to stereotype someone, stereotype guys for always having sex on their mind, not gays specifically.

I do not feel it is appropriate to create any stereotypes whatsoever. As in the stereotype which you described, stereotypes just cause hate in the world. This is unnecessary hate. Instead of really getting to know the people for who they are, we are choosing to learn about people from what other people say about them. In a society where all different walks of life are mixing, we should break down these barriers and take no note of such stereotypes. Just mind other people and ignore them.

I don't stereotype people for the reason of offending them. We're all human, and we just need to learn to accept each other.

Bisexuals get it worse tbh.
The number of times I've heard both gay and straight people express a fear that their bisexual partner will run off with the next person of the opposite sex to themselves. People have even openly admitted to never being willing to date a bisexual for this very reason.

Yeah I have to agree. While most people have been supportive since I've come out, there has been the odd comment that I'd have sex with anyone and everyone.

Yeah I have to agree. While most people have been supportive since I've come out, there has been the odd comment that I'd have sex with anyone and everyone. That's probably due to the fact that most teenagers that claim to be bisexual are the anti-everything types that want to be lyk ttly kewl and rebel against all societal norms, including abstaining from promiscuous sex. That has been my experience with a large number of self-proclaimed bisexuals. However, the chances the majority of them actually are bisexual is slim in my opinion. And, of course, there's nothing that indicates bisexuality and promiscuity/unfaithfulness are at all related.

I hate sterotypes like that. They always think that a gay person acts like a girl. P.S. Bi, and dam proud of it

Haha. "If you're going to stereotype an entire group of people, make it a more socially acceptable stereotype. Because then it's just fine!"
But really, are you sure this is the worst stereotype? There's no stereotype out there that could possibly be even slightly worse than this one?

I think by "worst", it's really meant to be "most annoying".
I find the "you must be one way or the other" thing the most irritating
Meaning how you're either masculine or femenine.
the BS that bisexuals gets pisses me off too.

Sterotypes is just a way to hate people in a new way. I do hate the one that str8 guys think their in danger of being hit on like their really that good looking. If girls wont i dont think a gay guy would. Sterotypes are based on one opinion saw by someone and blown outta porportion.
Its fun though to prove a sterotype wrong at someone to see how stupid they look like: " Oh your gay?, well im not interested in you." ..." I never said i was, girls dont like you for a reason what makes you think guys would?"

I find everything in this forum true , I'm speaking on behalf of myself here .. Im Bisexual I've tried to hide it , but I've accepted the fact that I like girls . I still have thoses times where I think I should declare myself gay considering my lack of intrest in guys . I've got years to figure this out . And I'm being really honest with you when I say there are a few guys that peck my intrest (: , not many but few . Yes I think that some girls pretend to like eachother for spite and to look "kewl" , which is just increadably childish , and makes the real bisexuals that really are attracted to BOTH genders look bad .
But about this problem .
I've just come out and yes I hear all the BS that goes around behind my back , sterotyping and crap .
Because of this one chick that gave all bisexuals a bad rap in our school . <.< But regardless . No were not horny basterds that will have some twisted orgy , TGLB's and all we are just people , down to earth loving people .

Well, I hate how all LGBT men are supposedly all feminine.
And how bisexuals are whores who would sleep with anything.

I am well aware that this isn't the absolute worst stereotype in existence, but when referring to gays, it kind of is. I mean, yea people think it's sinful, or that it's corrupt or whatever, but that's not a stereotype, that's just a religious belief. People are literally afraid of having someone of the same sex come on to them, and feel threatened that their sexuality might be brought to question, what I was trying to get at in this post, is that the fear of having a gay person hit on you, creates a large majority of the social stigma related to gays.
Haha. "If you're going to stereotype an entire group of people, make it a more socially acceptable stereotype. Because then it's just fine!"
It's not fine by any means to characterize men as perverts, or pigs or anything like that. But gays are a minority population, and people find it a lot easier to take the blame off of one group and put it onto another than to abolish it altogether. I think it's awful that people think that way, but you have to admit it's the truth. And really, there's not that much harm in considering guys to be pigs. Obviously it's not universally true, but people laugh at comedians who characterize men as pigs, slovenly, unintelligent or unkempt, and men know that in all honesty, we're not that bad. Women know it too, otherwise there'd be a lot more lesbians in the world, I'd think. The point is, the stereotype IS more socially acceptable, because it's not nearly as detrimental as one related to gays.

One thing that makes me mad, is when people ask me," Is he gay? Is he gay?"
My God! Just because I'm gay does not mean that I know ALL gay people around town!
Sometimes you just need to either ask them personally, or keep you mouth shut.

There are black people who steal things.
There are white people who like crack.
There are handicapped people that are retarded.
Just because a stereotype is true to some, it doesn't make it any less offensive when you're saying it about all of them.

I meant that there are gay guys who happily adopt the stereotype attached to gays. It can't be as detrimental as the OP is suggesting if there are people are actually happy about it and make it apart of who they are.
The blacks who steal, the whites who like crack and the handicapped who are retarded didn't ask to be theives, crackheads or retarded.
That is to say that the blacks who steal don't do so because they are black and the same for the whites and so on.
The gays I'm talking about make a conscious decision to adopt the stereotype because they are gay.
