A few months ago, just as the years before I cried myself to sleep, night after night. It was the only way I could sleep. Now I can't physically cry. A few tears if i'm lucky, then it just... stops. Its driving me insane. Crying helped - alot. And now I can't. I want to. But nothing happens.
Can you actually run out of tears? =/

I don't think you can run out of tears. Sometimes you cant make yourself cry when you really feel you want to, and then sometime, when you're least expecting it and not prepared, the crying may just come to you. Its sad if you can only sleep through crying but on the whole crying is, in my opinion anyway, a good thing. Maybe somehow you're trying to hard and you just need to seek the tears less and let them find you.

I found this on the web,
Tears flow from tear glands into your eyes through tiny tear ducts. The tear glands are located under your upper lids, and when stimulated, produce tears to form a thin film over your eyeballs. Every time you blink the film spreads over your eyes to keep them moist and free of dust and other irritants. Whether you are awake or asleep, happy or sad, this salty fluid is always flowing from the tear glands.
So I don't think you can run out of tears as they are always there but in my own opinion I think that you can cry enough to not be able to cry as much the next time, like say if one night I cried a lot, then the next day I ususally find it difficult to cry when I feel like i'm about to. I see it as a good thing anyway, I'd prefer not to cry!

I havn't been able to have a full blown cry in a long time as well. The closest I've gotten was like 3 months ago, but it was really just a few tears. I wish I could do it, 'causs it's very feels very cleansing, but that's just how it is for me and I have to accept that. I just think we toughen up crying-wise as we age. Some do it quicker than others tough and to a further extend.
I don't think your not unable to do it, i just think it takes more to provoke that kind of reaction, than it used to.

I can assure you, on a biological level you can't "run out of tears."
It sounds like you had an intense period of sadness and you probably, "got it all out". Now it your mind is probably saying, "no more crying - you've exhausted yourself - you're done now!" If you really cried every night for a month or so, you probably exhausted yourself. Now your body and mind are asking for some recouperation time!
I know it's frustrating when you want to cry but can't: to me, crying is a shower for the soul (quoting my grandma =D ) Crying feels good a lot of the time.
