Hi,
I'm getting worried about my body hair, its developing fast, and Im only 13, close to 14. I look at my older friends, and they don't have as much hair as I do on arms or whatever. I even get some hairs on my face.

What can I do?
Thanks :)

James,

well obviously you shave your face, the other stuff well its up to you. I would say take a pride in it, its a sign of your physical maturity.

lol awww you sound so worried!! Don't worry, some people develop faster than others. I have this 14 year old friend and he could pass for 18, although he'd need some ID haha
So basically nothing to worry about, your just have a more mature body than they do right now.

I definitely can sympathize with you, and it can get super annoying to get hairy ahead of all of your friends. However, you need to compare apples with apples as if you are from a different ethnic background from your friends which is known to be hairy (folks from the Mediterranean region, the Middle East, and South Asia), then being hairy is going to be the fact of life for you unlike your friends who might come from a background which is known to be less hairy (East Asians, Northern Europeans, and many black Africans). If you come from one of the hairier backgrounds, then don't freak out as chances are you would be totally normal in those places. Even if you are of the same ethnic background as your friends and just so happened to become hairy, then don't think badly of yourself as at least you look more mature than them. There are plenty of guys on here who are going on 17/18 and who are dying for hair, and just think of yourself as ahead of the game. Sure, some idiots might make fun of you about your hair, but they just are either jealous or don't understand the changes that come with puberty. Remember, you are the norm for guys as most men get hair in the places you are mentioning.

Finally, in light of your developing so much hair it is absolutely essential that you maintain good hygiene. Hairy guys generally have a bit more maintenance than their hairless counterparts, and just make sure you shower daily, change your undergarments and socks frequently, and to ensure that you keep your face well groomed as you don't want to have uneven facial hair growing. If hair truly bothers you, then your option right now is to invest in a body hair groomer which is in the $30-$40 range, but remember that if you are from a hairy family you might be fighting a no win battle.

Remember, having hair is normal, and you are just an early bloomer.

Don't worry you are completely normal I was in the same boat you were but then some of friends were a bit & others considered me lucky for looking older than what I am. In a few more years time they will catch up too.

I personally don't think there's anything to worry about. You may find it embarressing to be more hairy than your friends and even somewhat weird and awkward, but, you shouldn't worry, all will be well. Having more hair at this age just shows that you're more physically mature than your friends and ahead of them in puberty, all people develop at different rates so it's not like you're weird or abnormal. So, don't be embarressed about that, like I said, it's all fine and normal and eventually you're friends will get hairier too, so you'll all be around the same point.

As for fixing that, I suggest shaving. That's the most obvious and easiest way to fix this if you still see it as a problem. At this age, there's not much more you can do and if you shave, mind you, it will grow back, so it's not like it's gone forever. So keep all that in mind and I suggest shaving if you're bent on getting rid of it. So I wish you luck! :)
