Sex at: 11, 12, 13???

I have friends of all ages, from 6-29(and yes I count them as my friends.:P)
And alot of the younger ones are telling me they are going to soon or have had sex, and they are only between the ages of 11 and 13.
I don't know about you..but I find that kinda weird. I mean have we really gotten to a point in our generation where sex is for nothing but fun? And if it's not fully for fun and for "love", if you're 11-13 how do you really know you're in love?
I want everyone's opinion.

My personal opinion is that one should not have sex at such a young age. They are nor mentally or really physically ready for it. It can also lead to a lot of health problems down the road...

In some tribes, when males turn the age of 13, they are considered "men" and begin to have children. This is because they understand that at age 13, they are able to produce and have children. One must understand that this is because the average life span of such tribes and societies is fairly low, and therefore they must do so in order to continue their way of life and keep their society alive. The reason I add this information is because your friend is 12 and really pushing the age through which he is physically able to have sex. One must also remember that in such societies, their mindset and traditions allow them to preform such actions.

I also feel that sex is a symbol of love and devotion between two people. No matter what anyone says, in today's modern society, no one in their teens is mentally prepared to have sex. Yes, I know I am going to get crap for saying this, but that is because it is the truth and no one is willing/wanting to hear the truth. During the heart of puberty (teens) we fall in love with the idea of love. We are not able to distinguish true love from the idea of love, and therefore we are not mentally prepared to have sex. There are too many hormones and changes that we are going through to be able to adequately determine love from the idea of love. Sex is so much more than simply having sex. Sex is spiritual (in a sense) and shows your love to one another.

With this said... I honestly think it is because people think it is cool. The first people who really did it were just stupid and did it because they thought it would be this amazing thing. Sex on its own isn't amazing; it is the love and devotion that goes into sex which makes it amazing. Anyways, soon after they did it, everyone started to follow. Everyone thought that it was "so cool" and those who have had sex were even praised. I do not understand why someone is praised just because they have had sex... if anything, they should be looked down upon because they are so young and not ready for sex. I think it also has to do with the whole masculinity thing. I mean, people keep lying/bragging about their penis size and stuff to make them seem more masculine, touch, and cool.

Sex education in middle schools that actually deal with birth control as opposed to abstinence would do wonders in this regard. It doesn't have to be dangerous if we would just educate the kids. But of course, Jesus doesn't like condoms, so we can't teach our kids about it.

I was taught about condoms in 6th grade...sex ed does teach about birth control AND abstinence. I personally think abstinence should be more encouraged, and no, it's not because of religious reasons...fuck religion. I can't think of any reason why kids need to have sex. I'll answer your question. While having sex at ages 11-13 is illegal everywhere, or at least the vast majority of the world, it is a matter of opinion, as you have stated, if it is right or not. In my opinion, I think that if someone is mature enough to decide whether they are ready for sex, they should make that decision accordingly.

At ages 11-13 it is very rare that the person will be mature enough to make such a crucial, important and delicate decision that could affect their entire lives which makes it a very irresponsible act to do at such an age, but it is more irresponsible for a parent to allow a child to do such things.

If you come across a child who is 11-13 years old saying that they are going to have sex, make sure you talk them through protection, risks, maturity and that they shouldn't do it.

Not only could they get into a lot of trouble for it (and their parents) but it could ruin their lives afterwards from press or later religious beliefs.

Sex is fun -- whether it should always be done by people who love each other is a debate that I'm sure all of us have our views on. I think that prostitution should be allowed, if both parties are willing and are making informed decisions. However I don't thinks sex should be done by children as just 'something to do'

It is there to make children, not just because it feels good. But as long as the person is mature, protected and understands the risks I think it's fine. However at 11-13 years old it's very rare that a child will be any of those things.

16 and up is a good age I think. For most 16 year olds, they are mature enough to make big choices like that. But most people think of sex as being just for the pleasure of it. When I lost my virginity recently, I didn't even have the pleasure of it in mind. I was fully focused on the fact that this was the closest she and I could ever be.
