Getting a needle.

Tomorrow, It's the day the girls get our HPV injection. Something about preventing cervical cancer, anyways... I've never had a needle at school, I just want to know, will they make me roll my sleeves up or take off my jumper? Or can you just pull down the collar of your shirt so your shoulder is out? I don't want to show my arms...

Your shoulder and a little bit of the upper half of your arm has to be out, so they can put the needle there. When I had to get those, it was okay when I just put my collar down my shoulder. I hope it'll be the same for you. Good luck. :hug3:

No, I understand it has to be in my arm, but it's usually at the top of the arm so do you think there's a way they can do it without the bottom of my arms showing, sorry if i'm not making much sense. And thanks for the reply :)

I suppose you could try and get away with taking your arm out of your jumper, but it might be awkward to get it back in after (the actual injection doesn't hurt, but it aches and feels yucky to lift your arm up a while after). Good luck!

It depends how tight your shirt is. It's done by nurses who should be professional about anything, and you can probably ask to have more privacy from the other girls if you want.

I had mine last week and my arm STILL HURTS >:-(

Ohh, god. Hope it's not that bad, I'd rather get the needle though :) My shirt isn't tight, I can get it over my shoulder. Oh, I hope they just let me. Ah well, I won't know til tomorrow comes. Thanks for the replies :)

i got it in my upper arm. if there's a way you can push your shirt *down* it might.

that one hurts and swells a LOT more than most vaccinations do too, fair warning

Well, you could wear a tank top type shirt with a light zip up jacket and when its time for the shot just unzip the upper portion of the jacket and let it slide down the upper part of your arm. Am I making sense to you?

Yeah, your making sense. My school has a uni-form though. There awfully strict on it too. Thanks for the help though, I'm sure i'll find out tomorrow...

at my school when I got it they let some of the girls who weren't wearing short sleeves to push it down your shoulder, so you should be able to :)

i have the same problem, about showing my arms for the jab. but i got some usefull advice that you could bandage your lower arm and wrist saying you sprained something... just take one arm out the bottom of your jumper. when i get my jab my school wears blazers and shirts and when i take off my blazer to get the jab my arms would be visible. luckily i only SH one arm so i could get away with wearing a bandage. hope this helps:)

Well, you roll down ther top of your top so they can put the jab in the top bit of your arm or you could put a bandage on your arm so they wouldnt see if you do have to take your jumper off xxx
