Do you feel racism is a big problem facing American society? What is the impact of racism done to the American public? Do you feel acts of racism can be justified?

Racism is a problem, everywhere, there isn't one place that is worse than another.

i'm not American so i dont know the situation over there, but i feel that racism is still a problem but its a problem thats being fixed. i feel that racism is becoming more sociably unacepptable, and is just not tolerated. however in saying that it is still a problem and by no means close to being sorted, but the situation is better than what it was say 25 years ago.

I know its still a problem, but i also know that for my generation, its really a VERY SMALL problem, most of my generation just doesnt care about race, but thats just speaking for the majority of my generation.

personally i have found that over the past 15 years that racism as gone down considerably, as are nation itself as become so mix-raced itself we have come to except them in are community and grown to think of them as gr8 people, not just jurdgeing them by the colour of there skin, even tho are still (well i won't saying rude words) beeps who still do it, but they they are'nt worth thinking about...well except on the end of long sharp stick maybe...but thankfully there are few of them left and there growing smaller all the time.

Racism is reversing, white people are getting the racist shit now.
Political correctness has gone too far.
Racism is still a huge problem, one that should be eradicated asap. However picture this scenario: There are two people applying for a job, a white male and a black female. The white male happens to be the best person for the job, however the employer hires the black woman for fear of being called racist if they hire the white male.
That shit is actually happening now, it is bollocks.
Fuck racism.

I understand were you guys are coming from, but thats not gonna be prevelent when our generation takes the stand. When were the employers race won't matter, because its just the old generations liveing in the past, and worrying about the past coming back to haunt them. We just don't give a hoot.

Lets not hope the die god little harsh don't ya think. Nah, "at the very least they deserve life" I think racism is just a small issue to me and you today, its only the old-timers that have a problem, and soon enough they won't be running the countries and racism will be a highly unpopular thing.

i think black and white people are relising that they no different and racism is just a stupid habbit that are inhabbited britian in much different an older time, such idea are now been considered as wrong! so racism thankfully become stupid and iddiotic...now if only that would happen with homophobics...

Bobby

Well critisising someone for being gay is racism. And raceism has not became stupid and idiotic, it's always been that way (or at least that's my opinion.) now people just are realizing it's stupid.

Well critisising someone for being gay is racism.
No it isn't!
Racism is discrimination against someone for their race not their sexuality. Racism is just a type of discrimination, as is homophobia.

i think that racism is a bigger problem than what people think and it isnt going away any time soon. i know alot of people that are racist.i think ppl are also forgeting that there is rascism against white people too. white people arent the only people that are dumb enough to be racist. rascism isnt a race problem its a human problem. any one person wants to think of themself as better.

i had a teacher once who said that being racist and discriminating is pointless because its just different chemical structures. basically if u were to discriminate based on someones skin color then you're just pised at them for having more melanin in their skin cells that makes their skin darker. but i think racism today is less of a problem with our generation but more wth the older people. i think the problem with this generation is ignorrance and steryotyping other races and being afraid, like how people sometimes see arabs walking around and ive seen people point at them and kinda walk away and i cant beleive people would do that.

Racism is based no actions not skin colors. People from different look and sound different. And since each country has it's own motives, then that person will fufill them. So since the iraq's former leaders liked bombing. Then the people of the country will like that, therefor makeing the stereo type of arabs likeing violence.

dude, arab's don't 'like' bombing.
they don't 'like' violence.
thats a sterotype in itself.

they want this war to end just like we do.
they don't want there families dying.
or there children suffering.
they just want to pratice there religion in peace.

Bobby
May 7th, 2006, 04:11 PM
I never said they did, i said that's a sterotype, and is racism

"nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something" That quote is from the movie Crash. For everyone who hasnt seen it, it is about racism today. by this quote one of the characters mean that sometimes its like no one is connecting with us or feeling with us, so the only way to have a connection or have a feeling is to crash into someone by doing something mean or making a racist comment. racism comes from people with problems that lie within themselves. they must make themselves feel like they are dominent and/or most important so they must point out someones differences. racism...bigotry...discrimination are all code words for hate. and hate is not a beautiful word. so will racism every be completely demolished...well there are always going to be insecure ugly people in this world so probably not, but can people like us make a difference? You bet!

I don't know if this is old or not, and i only read the 1st question, I think that racism shouldn't exist, the word racism is emplying that black people are different from white people, So they're split into groups, People may keep saying it, But on TV you see so many black people getting arrested, But they're just shwoing the black people, Networks and Goverment are seperating the people, Black people are the same as white people except different skin and maby a different attitude, And there's no reason for a black man to call a white man, (Whitey), Black's can be racist to,

But the word racism should be abolished, Its making to many innocent people be charged for hate crimes

I think that racism shouldn't exist, the word racism is emplying that black people are different from white people,
You say that racism should be abolished as white and black people are exactly the same.
Black people are the same as white people except different skin and maby a different attitude,
Then you go on to say that they have different attitudes? That is racism in itself.
There are more ethnic groups than black and white people, open your eyes.

Well if i was black man and i said White people had different colour and a different attitude would that be racist?

If so, Then there must be alot of racist's

there are different cultures, sometimes the majority of a culture is a certin color.
but thats irrelevent.
its the culture's additude you see.
not the color.
remember that.
if a person with black skin grows up in american suberb culture,
there additude will be very similer to any other person regardless of color who grew up in similer circumstances.
the reason that, at least americans, think 'black' people have different additudes, is because it seems that the majority of blacks live in poverty.
therefore they have a different culture.
but in time,
this will not be so.
