Gas is becoming a major issue in the United States...It is becoming very costly...i know many states have reached 3 or 4 dollars but NJ has always been in the 2's...its now in the 3's and its getting way too high...the u.s needs to get our act together and find some oil...quit with our problems and get the oil cause were going to run out soon and way bigger problems will begin

NO! BAD! we need to switch to ethonal not get more oil, oil is dirty.

i know, but i meant for the time being....i would rather have things powered with water, definitely not something that would run out or destroy the environment

Why didn't it seem to occur with our government that it would be better for the USA, in the long run, to seek other means of fuel than to just search and search for more, which is destroying the environment?

like i said, i think water is a great source and would be fantastic....like water stations instead of gas stations to pump into cars...it would be much much much better then gas

yeah but that would be a HUGE change and no current cars can run on water. they are allready producing lots of fuel flex cars, and ethonal is deff. the future. just look at brazil, they are energy independent.
April 22nd, 2006, 09:57 PM
lets just hope they will produce those cars soon

there is a car that runs on 90% water, i have seen it on a tv programme im not sure what the other 10% was but its apparently 100% environmentally good lol :D
April 23rd, 2006, 08:33 AM
the problem is thats only 1 car and i dont think its in the US....we need thousands of cars to make it at all apparent

2/3rds of the world is starving to death
a CHILD starves to death every three seconds
and you want to devote hundreds of thousands of feilds to fuel insdead of food?
ummm....no
I agree that we need to get rid of gas and diesel
but ethonal is NOT the answer

Approximately 850 million people worldwide are malnourished, thats is not 2/3 of the population. That is about 1/7 on average. Most of those poeple are living in Africa and western asia. These conditions are not usually due to a shortage of food, but a government that mismanages. If they really wanted to help there people, they would invest the government budgets in cultivation of the fertal vally feilds along the many rivers and cost lines in there countries. Not spend it on a boosted military. If the united states really wants to help these contries then giving them hand outs is not the answer, but working with them to improve there education system and linking them with a global economy.
Ethonal is a much cleaner buring fuel that is very close to gas in its production. We wouldnt have to change an entire industry, an industry that supplies a huge amont of Job's in the worlds mroe sucsessful nations. You have Japan, Germany, the UK, the United States, and many more nations that produce cars. Instead of using existing food producing feilds, it would make MANY more jobs to create ethonal producing feilds in Mid America, a portion that is slowly declining in population, it would experience a boost and thus contribute more the the global economy. Southen parts of Canada would also be able to grow the crops needed for ethonal, and china, a new comer to the G.E. or global economy, would prosper. Millions of unemployed people would get jobs, and the oil industry would slowy become ethonal industries and hydregen industries. Its a step in the present, that will secure the future.

I read though on a cost-per-mile basis, E85 is typically more expensive than gasoline.

One problem, corn is grown using petroleum products. Another, you would need to cover an area the size of South Africa in corn fields to produce enough ethanol to power all of todays cars, and siince the economy doubles every 20 years, we would need 2x as much by the time we got it all going.
We can't use electric, I'd like to see you make an electric jet. The only feasable solution is fusion, but the technology is incredibly expensive. If we had spent all the "War On Terror" money on research for fusion, we'd already be running off of that. The power plants could power the cities etc during the day, and at night they could get hydrogen out of water, because electrolosys requires more energy than you get out of it, we need the infinite energy of fusion. But instead, we're driving ourselves into a massive worldwide crisis.

"quit with our problems and get the oil"
you mean go to war AGAIN (because that is the only way your going to get much more, your already bullying other countries for more using ur political power)
you mean murder innocent people AGAIN
you mean bully the crap out of the rest of the world AGAIN
i mean dont get me wrong eventually it always seems to bite you in the ass
belive it or not the CIA trained and armored osama binladin...now thats what you call ironic
seriously though
america is pathedic
you use and waste more then any other country
you demand it all from other countries
what you cant take through political or economial minipulation
you steal at gun point
fuckin bullys
Canada is classified as an energy superpower
we are RIGHT on saudi arabias ass for oil and in a few short years we will be producing twice as much
Molrony signed a fucked up agreement with america where we HAVE to meet a set amount of oil exports to america
even if Canada has declared a state of national emergency we still cannot even slightly lower the amount of shipments to "america"
well not without violating NAFTA (which by the way america did for years costing Canadian bussiness billions)
Which would not happen because Canada would never violate an agreement
as a result were importing it from overseas because although my house is literally built on an estimated 80trillion dollars worth of oil thanks to you guys the stuff in my truck is from over seas
Our fuel costs MORE then yours
so would you please STOP your fuckin bitching
all i ever hear about is america whinning about the cost of gas
compared to here its cheep
compared to Ireland or the UK its nothing
so do everyone a favor and SHUT UP
EDIT
oh and to clear it up
the vehicles would run on Hydrogen...H
not water H2O...well...tecnically HOH..but thats not as catchy...
the BY PRODUCT is water (H2O)
and although they would be PERFECT
were a good 10yrs from any real practical implimentation
and a good life time away from seeing any significant amount of vehicles running off of it
ethenol isnt viable
i would rather it was used as food for areas such as Sudan
then a slightly cheeper fuel
that is sorta better for the enviroment
but not by allot
