I'm thinking of asking if a GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) could be started at my school. Now, there's a problem, nobody really knows I'm bi. Also, it's a catholic school. I think that it would be more inclusive and just try to end homophobia.

Good Idea? Any Ideas on how to ask?:what:

I got this from a site:
"Under the Equal Access Act (EAA), a federal law passed in 1984 that applies to all public
secondary schools that receive federal funding, a secondary school that allows student-initiated
non-curriculum-related clubs to meet on school groups during lunch or after school cannot deny
other non-curricular student groups access to the school or otherwise discriminate against the
group due to the content of the students' proposed discussions."

Since you attend a Catholic private school, you have the chance of being denied. So it depends on how conservative your school is.

They're pretty inclusive like their motto is Inclusiveness so I don't know, I guess I'll try

I would go for it! There is nothing wrong with proposing the creation of the group. Once if you create the group, it will also be a lot easier to open up to others about your sexuality. If you are like most people I know, your life will be a lot easier not having to worry about people knowing your sexuality. I would just go for it! Good luck, and I hope you get sponsored!

I want to start one of these at my school, problem is, my toen has like 40,000 people, we are a small ass town.

Plus we are in New Mexico, right by Texas (typically not a good place for gays) so im not sure, im bisexual and i wish i had a place to hang out with others.

Anyone know how to go about starting one of these?

Well, I dont know how effective it would be. My school has one (I got to a public high school). I would love to go and join but I will definatly not be doing that any time soon. I'm not ready for the ridicule that comes with having your picture on the GSA page of the yearbook. When ever there is an announcment for gsa in the bulliten everyone is like "Wow! Queers!" (or something to that effect). Its really stupid and annoying...

Yeah people put way to much effort to go about calling people fags, queers, ect. I was always called this even though I claimed to be straight but I recently found out that maybe I'm Bi I'm thinking I probably am but I just dont know yet :/ but I might do this for my school like have an assembly to tell people about it and all but that requires alot of research.
