How do you know if your in love and it's not just a simple crush?
I've had some friends where their like "I'm in love with this awesome person." Then a week later. "Nah it was just a crush."
So how do you know?

I guess time is a test. And whether you find yourself thinking every waking moment about the other person. And as if you're not quite complete when they're not there. And actually, you yourself dont matter any more, its only them.

Thats how it is for me.

I think that's the ultimate question, and I think that answer is different for everyone.

I think love is overused so often when you're a teenager, and it looses some meaning. Or is it that teenagers are just more passionate about things? Maybe it takes time or maybe it takes pure passion, I just don't know.

I know this is bad, but I don't believe in teenage love. I just don't think its possible, or real. I've "liked" the same girl for the past 5 months, and can't stop thinking about her, but I'm not sure its love. Its so hard to tell, you just have to do what your heart, or mind, tells you, whichever one you want to listen to.

if you and your "partner" (i hate that word) have many fights but are still together, with no thought of breaking up...then you're in love.
thats my guess anyways.

As said above it's probably different for everyone. For me it's not being able to stop smiling when talking to them or being with them (it gets annoying lol), always thinking about them, everytime the phone rings you pray it's them, putting them before yourself, they are the first thing that you think about when you wake up and the last thing you are thinking of before bed, and when you can't imagine your life without them. Once all of that was happening for me, I knew I was/ am in love. :D

I think that if you really love the person, you know that deep down, anyway. But of course, we have the "everybody's different" part.

love is a deeper feeling than a crush, it lasts longer and feels different. thats how it is for me.

"I think love is overused so often when you're a teenager, and it looses some meaning. "

Ahhh thank you Matt, you beat me to it :P

I agree with Matt. I don't believe in teenage love (romantic love I mean). To me, love is a complete acceptance of another individual who you willingly love despite how much they fuck up and vice versa. Love is a complex feeling involving platonic appreciation of each other, but also lust, and attraction. Love is seeing someone at their worst and their best and continuing to love them anyway. I don't believe any teenager is mature enough (myself included) to grasp the complexity and commitment involved in a love based relationship. When you no longer cared who paid for the last meal, when you've LIVED together, when you've seen each other pee, when you've been through a crisis together, and you still see each other's beauty and worth as a human being and as a soul, then you can understand love.

Unfortunately (to me) love has been painted in a bad image by today's youth who associate love with attraction/lust and obsession. These ideal images are made with impossible standards. Love should not be based on one's 'willingness' to do anything for the other person. To me the 'romeo and juliet' type of love, or the Jerry Maguire, "you complete me" love is not only bull, but dangerous. You were born alone: a human being, complete and capable of happiness. you can only bring someone into your life if you are happy and accepting of yourself and realize you don't have a dependence on this person. That is what love is to me.

I'm sure you're tired of hearing it, but you just know.

I've wondered it myself, and there really is no definition for it.

If I was going to try to describe it, I would say .. it's just this almost euphoric feeling when you're with them. Not lustfully, because that could be confused with love, and it's actually infatuation.

One way to know, is you'll always want to be with them (not in a needy way), and when you're together it's like all of your worries are gone. It's just you and that person. No matter what happens between you and that person, You still feel a great affection for them. If you can value the little things in the person you have affection for. It's hard to explain. Nobody can actually tell you whether you love somebody or not. Nobody can tell you what love is or isn't.

I really can't describe it, but trust me, you'll know. Once you feel that deep feeling inside you. Somewhat like...Like a feeling that will make you want to just sigh, but in a good way.

I think it's something that will happen and you will know. If in hindsight you weren't in love, then you probably weren't.

I think I am in love currently - we have a really good partnership, always understand each other, there's still a spark going and i am willing to be patient and wait for him. Which is very against my nature.

Love is selflessness i think...

when you want the other person to be happy, even if it means you feeling sad
when you want their needs met before your own, and they feel the same with you
when you get still get butterflies every time you see their name pop up when u get a txt
when you can spend 6 hours talking to them everyday and still never run out of things to say
when you can have a huge fight, rip each other apart, make each other feel like shit, and apologize and laugh about it 10 min later
when you can actually feel ur heart being torn apart when you see them with someone else
when you cant' describe in words how much you care for them
when you realize they have flaws but still find them to be perfect
when you feel comfortable with them seeing the worst side of you and know they will still be there
when the thought of giving up doesn't even begin to cross ur mind when things get hard
and when they are the last thing on ur mind when you go to sleep, and the first thing when you wake up....

ur in love
