Raspberry roses in distant gardens
Wake me up as my heart, it hardens,
Crystallizes and then compartmentalizes too
And I start to fall for you...
Oh I start to fall for you-oo-oo-ooo...
Raspberry roses in distant gardens,
Waking up to the sound of the morning lark,
And my heart skips a beat as I think about
What you and I should be now...
But I know that if I ask you to love me,
You'll tell me that I'm too high above you,
But that's not true, no that's not true at all,
And if you say no, I know baby that I'll fall...
A downward spiral outside the gardens of where I know we should be
Smelling raspberry roses, immune to the stings of bees,
Just listening to sweet melodies, by morning larks high up in the trees,
Free to fly away whenever they please...
Oh raspberry roses in distant gardens,
Waking up to the sound of the morning lark,
And my heart skips a beat as I think about
What you and I should be now...
But I know that if I ask you to love me,
You'll claim that I'm too high above you,
But that's not true, no that's not true at all,
And if you say no, I know baby that I'll fall...
Why are the raspberry roses and all that I've known
For my entire wasted life, so fucking far away?
Why can't life just be easy? 'Cos life is just a game,
But anyone who plays, can never reach the end...
(With a smile on their face...)
And I know that love is a part of life,
Just a spinner in the middle of a board game played by dreary-eyed pre-teenagers
Afraid of growing into their parents each night,
Afraid of growing into birds who must take flight,
Afraid of turning into individual-ites, where the burns sting like bug bites,
Except they irritate the mind, the heart, the soul...
Oh raspberry roses in distant gardens,
Waking up to the sound of the morning lark,
And my heart skips a beat as I think about
What you and I should be now...
But I know that if I ask you to love me,
You'll claim that I'm too high above you,
But that's not true, not that's not true at all,
And if you say no I know baby, that I'll fall...
'Cos love is never-ending, love is never-ending,
And I know that I need to feel the sweet sensation
Of your lips across my cheek, and onto me,
The taste of you I know I feel,
The light is breezy and the morning is too hazy for me to see...
But I know I'm in love, I know I'm in love,
I can smell the raspberry roses from here,
I can hear the morning lark singing at night,
And I know that my heart is starting to fly,
Up in the sky, my heart knows why,
My heart knows why...
(So take my hand and lets fly up high... Together...)
Wake me up as my heart, it hardens,
Crystallizes and then compartmentalizes too
And I start to fall for you...
