just imagine if you were dead...you can't experience marriage, you cant experience love on a physical/emotional level, you cant watch your kid grow up.
these are all things to live for.

i'm not suicidel (yet) you bring up a valid point but is there truly a point think about it if some people didnt live well what is bad about that for the rest of the world outside family and friends?

somebody is always loved by at least, at least, one person. if this one person heard of their death, who knows what could happen? maybe the loving person would harm themselves, then it will start a chain reaction.
i believe that as long as someone helps somebody else learn about the bad things in life, then they have done their purpose. but that doesnt mean their life is over. it means they can finally live.
i hope im not confusing you.

Is this really a depression question, or just philosophical discussion?

Its easy to ask what is the point of anything, we're born, we will die, most of us will not do anything in between those two points that will have any lasting influence or effect. But we can still find so much to enjoy.

I wouldnt say its easy to be dead, its just nothing, complete nothingness. Sometimes when the feelings are too bad the alternative of nothing may seem attractive, but on the whole something is always better than nothing.

wow! great thread!

I don't belive in marriage, I belive in god but I don't belive in church.
I have my own theorys, beacause, If you look the others people theory they all have the same, for example: ''I'm going to be a lawyer, and I'm going to get married and have 2 kids, I'm going to be very happy LALALALAA''

But never goes well:
-In highschool, his girlfriend got pregnant
-He became a lawyer but not a good one, he just went to college just because he thought it'd be fun
-He saw a pretty girl at a young age(He showed her only the good side because if he show her the bad, he couldn't go to bed with her) and 6 months later(too early) he asked her: ''you marry me?'' they thought it'd be perfect, but when they got married he knew that she couldn't go anywhere because she's his wife, so he showed the bad side, she got pregnant twice(tow kids yay!) but, now divorce, he isn't the cool guy that you met, he was using a mask for 6 months. He is a fag, they got divorced.
-One kid commited suicide, the other didn't have a happy family like he saw in the movies.

And I have thousends of theorys, but I can tell you something, LOVE is one of the points in life, but you have to know what love is, or you can ruin others people life and yours too, if you love someone and that person loves you too, not necesarily you have to get married with that person or become BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND- BOYFRIEND AND BOYFRIEND- GIRLFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND. LOVE HAVE NO SEX TO ME.

Every people have their points in life.
Me: I love adrenaline(Skateboarding), I love her, evelyn(Not my girlfriend, im not going to marry her I'm just going to live with her my entire life, she's mine and I'm hers, she knows my bads and my goods, I dont have a mask) I love music(I play the guitar, piano, flute, ocarina, drums) and etc..

That's my live and I pass through really bad moments, but thanks god the bad moments pass, because thanks to them I know what good moments are. :)

There isn't a point. We're born and we die. But what we do in between then counts.

If, how, wouldn't it

And the old '' the world would be so much better off without any humans! ''

Classical teenage pity crap - the world would become a better place if more people would stop only thinking about themselves or wallowing in self pity and not trying to change anything, even if its just themselves.

I agree with Hyper, the reason the world is so bad off is because people of so selfish. The think of nobody but themselves and don't care who they hurt. That affects many people, and hurts them. You have your whole life ahead of you, don't throw it all away. You can do good in your life, If you just make one person feel special, you have done a great deed because without you, they wouldn't have felt that.

No.
There is a point to life. You were born within reason.

Generally speaking, if you have a home to live in, a bed to sleep in, food to eat, enough money to survive on and people close to you then your life isn't as so dreadfully horrific as you make it out to be. It's just typical hormonal teenagers feeling sorry themselves, it will pass.

In my opinion.....

There is no meaning in life. We make the meaning for ourselves whether that be through helping others, finding happiness, making art, what have you.
To me, suicide is a slap in the universe's face: Imagine the number of people who could've POTENTIALLY been born - this outnumbers the number of stars in the universe: the fact that you're alive is a very encouraging notion.

"but i could also experience heartbreak or divorce"

Of course. It's called life. It's beautiful and it's ugly. Better to loved and lost then to never have loved at all, as the saying goes. The positive things that CAN happen outweigh the negative ones if you chose. Life has the incredible potential to be experienced in perfect bliss, but one has to make the effort to make it that way. And although we experience suffering in the process, that only makes the victory of happiness in the end, all the more poignant. If you want to talk PM me.
