I'm searching for a new laptop to purchase at this time.
I'm looking for something in the $400-$550 price range. There's one the Wal-Mart here is selling which is actually fairly decent for $400, but I want to just get an idea of what's out there first.
Things I'm looking for:
Should be decent specs.
Needs to be smaller. 15" is fine, maybe a tiny bit bigger is okay. Smaller is better!
Don't need much more, this is going to be used for pretty simple stuff.
Thanks!

You could get a decent laptop for that, never mind a netbook.
I wouldn't go with HP or Toshiba, I've had nothing but trouble with both of those brands.

I already have a netbook which did have Linux (which I uninstalled and replaced with XP)
In any case, I went out and got one, it's a Gateway, and works perfectly.

Craigslist is your friend. I got a one month old laptop with a shit load of software on it and a 2.00 GHz dual-core processor and 4GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive for $350. That's normally like a $600+ machine. Just scour craigslist for awhile and a sweet deal will pop up forsure. Used is the way to go. Way cheaper. And if it's stolen then it's even cheaper. XD
