I was diagnosed with depression two or three years ago
and was on 450mg of antidepressants but I quit taking them
about four months ago even though I was told to never just
stop taking them. But I feel like I don't need them anymore.
And I can't tell my parents because they'll get really mad at me.
I don't know if I should start taking them again or what?

You may believe that you don't need them anymore, but its like any kind of medication. You need to keep taking them til they are all gone. So I would start taking them again. Maybe talk to your doctor and let him know that you don't feel like you need to be on them anymore, but wait for word from your doctor.

The best thing to do would be to simply ask the doctor who put you on the medication if they still think you should be on them. If you don't feel like you need them, chances are they'll take you off them, or keep you on them for a short while longer. Either way, you should always ask your doctor before stopping any medication.

450mg? That's really quite a lot. I wouldn't just come off of them, I'd speak to a doctor then come off slowly. Sometimes, you can get just as many side effects coming off these pills as you can when you begin taking them.
You haven't had any side effects at all coming off just like that? You know yourself better than anybody, if you feel better than before and don't feel like you need them, that's up to you. However I'd still say speak to a doctor first if possible. Good luck with everything.

To suddenly stop taking ANY medication, especially of that concentration is not a good idea. Think of a baby, their mother doesn't stop giving them formula all at once, they "ween" them off of it. You should resume your regular regimen of medicine immediately, and ask your doctor to tell you how to "ween" yourself off the medication. Stopping all medication abruptly can have serious side-effects, and can cause health issues so I would do as I said above. My mother is a nurse, and she agrees with me. (don't worry, I didn't tell her any particulars, I just presented it as if I were curious.)

Yes you should never stop taking a pill, even if you have a cold and go to the doctor and get a prescription if it says take it for 15 days you must take it for all those days even if you feel good. I'd talk to your doctor and your parents. I'm glad you feel you don't need them anymore! :)

Well, I agree with the above in that you should talk to your doctor, but as far as people saying the '450mg is a lot,' that's a bit silly. Different medications require different dosages and concentrations to be effective. The important thing to know is that you shouldn't stop taking ANY medication, regardless of the drug or the dosage, before speaking to your doctor about it.

I was on a low/medium dose but me and doc decided to give it a try without. I went two and half months with no SH... And it hasn't even been 2 weeks but i already feel the effect leaving me (although he said it should take 4-6 to leave my body)., and I SH'd. :/ I am considering taking them again tbh.
Basically what I am tryng to say is, you need to speak to your doc first. If he feels that maybe you can try coming off, then dont go cold turkey. Just cut them down bit by bit that way it wont be such a shock as it was for me. The last 3/4 days I have been REALLY low, but before that I was... normal? Liek a normal person? lol. If that makes sense :P. But yeh. Best thing is to talk to him/her about it.
