Alexander Ovechkin is so much better than Crosby! Any thoughts?

I hate Cry Baby Crosby. The only reason Crosby won the Stanley Cup was because of Malkin.

The thing that made me really think Crosby was a cry baby was in last years playoffs, a game in Washington Ovie got a hat trick so the fans threw hats on the ice. Well in a press conference after the game Sidney Crosby bitched and complained about the hats getting thrown on the ice. Later on when the series went back to Pittsburgh, Crosby got a hat trick and the fans threw hats out for him and he loved it, he had nothing bad to say about it at all. After that I lost all respect for Sidney Crosby.

I found it funny how Ovie led in goals for like a week while he was injured.

Good, who was the captain before he was Semin?
I also can't stand Crosby, he's such a crybaby the refs always protect him and give you a penalty for even touching him. I hope they play the bruins and Zdeno Chara lays him out.

Previously it was Chris Clark. They traded him away though.
Yes, they will play the Bruins, four times this year, as they are in the same conference but not the same division.

I love Ovie. He is the player that made the Caps and he deserves Captain. Road to the Cup. We will win it. Even though there is still a lot of playing time left ;).

Winter Classic. Do you guys think this solidifies anything in the Ovi/Sid argument? Neither player got on the scoresheet, but Washington won.

I'm not sure. At this moment in time Crosby is the better player statistically. To be honest, just watching the Caps play, Ovie just doesn't look the same. Instead of rushing the net, making the sick plays and scoring the goals he just kinda sits back and waits. Everyone has their slumps though, I wouldn't count Ovechkin out yet, but he needs to get it together soon.

Not a chance, the way Crsosby played in 2010 he's clearly the better player right now.
(I'll tolerate the bump, for relevance. :P)

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that the Caps have him on the point for their powerplay, I mean, he's a former 65 goal scorer and they have him like sixty feet from the net.

Crosby is an amazing player. Statistically, he's a lot better than Ovechkin. I will admit that he has had his "crybaby" moments (although most players have had moments like this...) but as he matures, we see less and less of them.
Penguins, ftw.

Honestly Ovi is an all around more complete player than Crosby. He can score from any where, work the point on the powerplay, set up Semin and Backstrom from anywhere, defend your best player, score on your best goalie, and check anyone you want him too. When was the last time you've seen Crosby throw a huge check on someone bigger than him? Or come back and play a defense? Crosby is great but there is a reason Ovi is called Alexander the Great.
Hockey isnt only about raw stats.

But when the raw stats tell the kind of story they have been since the Olympics, the rest of it pretty much doesn't count.

Having Ovi on the point hasn't worked for the Caps at all, dude. You wanna know how many goals he has on the powerplay this year? Two. TWO. Last year he scored 13. He's not nearly on pace to even reach half of last years total. Ovechkin can not defend as well as Crosby can. Guess how many minutes Ovechkin averages on the PK every game? One second. Crosby averages 28, about a shift/half shift or so. So, Crosby doesn't throw huge checks? He makes the smart play every time and is able to knock the uick away easily.
Not that I don't like Ovi, I do.

Yeah but you could be a raw stat player (like Crosby) but that doesn't make you the better hockey player. There is no doubt the Crosby is an amazingly explosive offensive hockey player, but to be the best you have to be able to play a two-way game... thats something Crosby can't do and Ovi can.

Yeah i noticed that, i never said he could play the point well haha. Crosby plays the PK because he can win face-offs like a beast, both players can make smart plays, Ovi can get the pucks off peoples sticks too, he can make the same passes Crosby can but the difference between them is when asked to he can crush your best player, sometimes checking a player is necessary. I'm not saying Crosby isn't a great player, i'm just saying imo Ovi is all around the better hockey player.
And yes THIS season i will admit Crosby is a better player stat wise, and just his play in general, Ovi is being forced to play a game that he is not used too, but when Ovi is allowed to play his game i believe he is better.
