You've come to the right place. My mother has Multiple Sclerosis since I was 5, so I know quite a fair bit about it.
Multiple Sclerosis (or M.S. for short) effects your nervous system. It causes you to lose feelings in your limbs, it makes you ache and will effect your cognitive/thinking skills. It does a lot of bad. People with M.S. usually need to live a stress free life, which means that you have to be aware of what you're doing. They usually might have trouble getting out of bed in the morning, have troubles with eye sight and thinking skills. M.S. forms legions. Legions are formed because of M.S. and they target your nervous system. Once they tag a nerve, they will slowly kill it. Once they kill enough of them, you can lose feelings in your limbs. My mother lost all the feeling in her left arm. You could pinch her left arm and she wouldn't feel it. If multiple legions come together, they will form a black hole. Black holes ae most common near the brain and this is usually leads to a very severe attack from the disease. Black holes will often cause memory loss and will typically effect a person's cognitive skills.
The best thing you can do for your mother is to make sure she gets tested for the disease. Make sure to ask your family doctor/physician to recommend a doctor who specialises in the disease and set up an appointment. They'll put her through the tests to see if she does have the disease. Multiple Sclerosis usually effects women between the ages of 30-40. My mother was diagnosed when she was 28. Make sure your mom isn't overworking herself as this causes stress. M.S. constantly feeds off stress and it will become more and more agressive. So if your mother needs help around the house with things like the laundry, cooking dinner or just anything else, then jump in and help her. She needs all the help she can get if she does have this disease.
You're both in my prayers.

I don't know anyone with Multiple Sclerosis, but my dad does have a degenerative nerve disease called Peripheral Neuropathy which does have some similar symptoms. The doctors tested him for MS while they were trying to figure it out, and thankfully it was negative.
As Matt said, stress really seems to be a factor with these things. My dad is undergoing treatment for his disease, and it was working a little but really not a whole lot until he started getting his stress and anxiety under control.
Don't worry so much that you don't feel like you can really talk to her--whether she turns out to have MS or not, she's still your mom and she still wants to be a part of your life. The little things are probably going to be more important, the things Matt mentioned like helping around the house and not complaining about chores and the like.
Also, don't forget about you. Having a loved one get sick is always hard, so don't focus on her so much that you forget to cope with things yourself. You're important, too. :)

Ok, it's good that your mother is going through every test. The symptoms are very similar? There might be a chance, but all you can do right now is hope for the best.
