Microsoft work and word pad not working

Every time I try to print something it freezes and shuts down. [word pad]
Microsoft word won't work at all.
Help?

If you still have the microsoft discs, you can try un-installing it, and then re-installing it.

try what the above guy said or try defragging your computer, also try printing in a different prossesor.

I would not try what the above poster said, and re-installation should be saved for last resort.
Defragging would increase performance, and load times of various programs, but, would not make a program that halts (Or doesn't start at all) suddenly not halt, or make it start.
And your second statement makes NO sense at all. "Printing in a different processor".

@ the OP.
I'd try a full system Virus scan (It will probably take the better part of a day to complete, and I'd advise NOT browsing the internet while the scan runs). If you don't have a scanner, one can be found here: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

If that fails, can you remember a date when those programs worked?
If so,
Press the 'Windows Logo Key' and the 'R' key at the same time. In the box, type 'rstrui.exe' and hit enter.
Select the date in the calander (Only if it's bolded) when the programs worked, and hit OK or Next. The restore operation will execute.

If that fails, then uninstall Microsoft Office via holding both the 'Windows Logo Key' and the 'R' key at the same time, and typing 'appwiz.cpl' in the box. Find 'Microsoft Office 200*' and uninstall it.
Grab your Office install disk, and reinstall it.

See if that fixes the problem.


And remember, these steps should be done in order, and if one of them gets Office to work (More specifically Word to work), DO NOT continue on to the next step.

im not arguing with you but i had the same problem about a year ago and as soon as i defragged it it worked fine
