I am thinking of getting an ipod (prefferably nano)

I currently have an MP3 player, but I sort of need more space, and would like faster song choosers :P If that makes sense. Anyways I was wondering if any of you guys got an Ipod and if you suggest I get one, and how much are they going for now adays?

I say this everytime an mp3 player thread crops up but....
Do not get an iPod! Far too expensive for what they are, you can get so much more space for half the price most of the time :p
Get a Creative or a Rio. They are the best mp3 players around.

Hmm. Yea it really doesnt seem that special. Im having trouble deciding to get either an Ipod or 512MB of RAM for my PC. Probably get the RAM, most likely cheaper too

I would say go for da ram, RAM is only about 40 bucks US. Plus as Ravenous ipods are far more exspensive then their worth.

Tisk Tisk... us PC users will never understand the absolute beauty of Apple Computer. How can you turn down a custom laser engraving, an attractive shiny design and up to four gigs of storage in a nano? They cost $150-$250, and they are worth every penny. Generally, the most expensive item is always best! The full-sizes range from $300 to $400 and have 30 to 60 gigabytes of storage. You can also use iPods as flash memory storage. Well... there I went again with my little Steve Jobs obsessed mind...

ipod is the only mp3 worth buying.
don't let them pull you to the dark side.
if computers were art, then mac's would win first prize every time.
they are so simple and beautiful.
not to mention much more efficient then a pc, and you won't have the same crashing problems.
plus, mac os x is so much better then microsoft windows.

That certainly depends on your viewpoint. Macs are completely uncustomizable. With Windows computers, you can change (nearly) any component with the most punishment being that you'd have to reinstall drivers or revalidate your Windows. With Macs, in order to upgrade you have to buy a whole new computer. However, I don't want this to turn into a fight, so this is all I have to say on the matter.

I have to strongly agree with Will.

Macs are great, but they definitely are no comparison to PC's (with or without Windows XP).

My friend was playing around to order a Mac... The price had actually peaked around $30,000. Sure, it had 16GB of RAM and everything anyone else would dream about, but buying all that alone for a PC would be much cheaper. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm estimating around $6,000-$8,000.

Anyway, the point is Mac lovers stay true to Mac because it's really a commitment. I use to have a Mac, I know. Though it crashed horribly and we tried going PC. I got use to and loved Windows 95 more than the respective version of Mac.

Ah, lost track again. The final point is that Macs are not bad, but they definitely are not the best thing ever. Some people might need a few different features while others need the contrast. That's why we have competition in this world.

hey! that 30,000 dollar computer included an fx4500 with TWO high definition thirty inch monitor/TV's! You can add ram and hard drive space to iMacs. PowerMacs, on the other hand, come in a tower and are byomkm. (bring your own monitor, keyboard and mouse) They are fully upgradeabe. You can install Windows on any Intel based Mac, using BootCamp. Are you suprised that a computer with two dual core proccessors at 2.5Ghz with an fx4500, two 30 inch monitors and a terrabyte of hard drive space costs 30,000?????? Not to mention the 16 gigabytes of ddr2! Wow this is soooooo off topic, but rebuts previous misunderstandings.

Mac Vs. PC would make a good sticky, eh? :)

my font is small because its more to my tastes.
i like it because it gives a humble impression.
since i never really yell, and talk softly and monotonish, it mathces my voice better.
its just better all around.

ipod's are really nice machines, they do the job just as good or better then any other mp3 (so much better)
and macs vs. pc's would be a good topic, but mac's would so win XD

1. Ipods arn't that expensive
2. Rios really suck because when you buy them they don't even work (My brother used to have one)
3. Creatives are good! But I prefer Ipods.

Oh... and that computers two dual core processors are 64 bit!
The only problem I have with Apple is their use of the letter "I":
iMac, iWork, iLife, iSight, iBook, iPod, iSync, iCal, iPhoto, iWeb, iMovie HD, iDvd, iDisk, iStat nano, and last but not least, iTunes. There are other letters! At least Steve Jobs isn't obsessed with the letter "Q".

Kiros
April 29th, 2006, 10:47 AM
It doesn't matter if the processors were 64 bit or not... no one should ever pay $30,000 for a personal computer - especially one that's a mac.

And yes, we all know that Steve Jobs has an obsession with the letter i and an even bigger obsession with forks...

Your logic is flawless! Any company which gives its customers flexible options, and access to amazingly powerful technology should perish. If you were to take off the software options from that Mac, and the TWO thirty inch monitors, you would be left with an $18,000 system. I have arranged PC's on tigerdirect.com, which included no software, and no monitors for far beyond that... my personal best is upwards of $35,000.

YA, seirously. You could buy a luxury car for that amount. If you have the list of all of the components, I bet i could run the numbers and find out that it would be cheaper to buy them seperatly.

kolte
April 29th, 2006, 11:29 AM
ok...the company sells a computer for 30000 dollars.
big whoop.
they also sell them for 1000.
i don't get why that means anything.

The two 30" moniors are proprietary, and the only company that can buy the G5 is Apple. The DDR2 eats up over $10,000 of the price. The fx4500 costs $1,800 per card. Apple sells it for only $1,650. I made a mistake, the Mac holds eight two gigabyte stics of ddr2 at 533 Mhz. They offer a non-ecc version of the ram for only $4,700, versus the $10,300 for the ECC ram. Each Apple Cinema HD display costs $2,500. They include firewire and usb ports and can support up to 2560*1600. I can't find any other 30" monitor that can handle that resolution on Newegg or Tigerdirect. It includes two sata 500GB hard drives at 7200rpms for $875, about $437 a piece. You can mirror them, or raid them together with iDisk. There are much more affordable MACS! PowerMacs are pretty rare, and they start at $2000. If you are poor, or just cheap, look at a Mac mini. They start at $600.

now your just being silly.
but all is well.........because this is my 4000th post.
its fun to reach numbers with zeros in them.
pretty zeros.
I guess it all boils down to the fact that ipods kick ass.
and everything else kisses ipods ass.

Heh, congratulations Kolte :D

And as Forrest said, it would be much cheaper to buy the parts separately and just build the computer. Macs are too expensive... Doesn't mean Apple's bad, it just means their marketing department doesn't have intelligent people :P

Underage_Thinker
April 29th, 2006, 04:01 PM
Ya, It definantly would be cheaper for me any way, b/c i can get comp parts for half price when i finaly do decide to build my own comp, reason being that my cousein works for a computer shop that builds custom comps.

They finance!
And I think you are wrong in saying that they all are too expensive. I'll grant you they have some freaky, almost mentos like commercials though. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1350418123536412275&q=apple+1984&pl=true

pc's are good computers.
macs are good as well.
they both accomplish there porpose.
both appeal to different audiences.
and therefore.
there is no reason for a scuffle.
not that there really is one.

Who cares about financing when it's only going to cost more in the long-run, Advent!

And still, I'd like to put emphasis on this brilliantly clever commercial ;)

(in 1984, women wearing tight white shirts without a bra, and bright orange shorts were the primary criminals?)
(in 1984, everyone was bald but the primary criminals?)
(a TV explodes from something tapping it's glass?)
(when a TV explodes, wind comes out of the vacuum? O_o)
(snowy mist also comes out of vacuums?)
(everyone just opens their mouths when a 20 feet wide TV blows up no more than 20 feet from them?)
(what happened to the guards and the woman??? she was still arrested, changed, and sentenced to death...)

Brilliantly clever... ;)

I never liked Ipods...

i own and use a Iriver MP3 player 2 hours a day every day...batterys last one week ....2 weeks with the backlight off

The sound is good enough for me and with all the settings in it you can make it sound better

having only 256MB of storage is hard at times but i just end of deleting the songs i get tired of....i would never ever need 5-12GB of storage...

although im really into music i just cant see spending that much on something so big and bulky

my younger brother has an MP3...like the ipod but black, color screen, smaller, 12GB storage,,,,,CHEAPER, sounds way better....did i mention it was cheaper?

im not sure what its called but ill get that info some time tomorrow...im planning on getting one as well.
