This program is in most big High Schools, it has a military based structure, a
JROTC branch for each military branch, I'm personally in US Army JROTC as a private (Soon to be private first class :D)

But people often complain about this program, saying its just a recruitment wing for the military, think its a waste of money, and limiting the future possibilities of the cadets in it.

I want to know what you guys think of this program.

And my rebuttal for what people say about it is, 1. The reason alot of cadets go into the military is cause they join cause they're interested in the military.

2. The military opens alot of possibilities for the cadets that are in it that want to join.

3. The main goal of the program is to motivate young people to be better citizens.

Anyways whats your guys opinions (Also bout time a non religious/abortion etc thread popped up, yay me for making this)

I did two years of Navy JROTC back in high school.

I thought it was a pretty awesome program. It gives students a bit of a small taste of what the military is like. Not in a combat sense, but from rules, structure, and lifestyle. Being taught from retired military officers was pretty cool.

My unit wasn't a recruitment wing at all. There wasn't any pressure to join, only that they offered advice if you approached them about joining.

JROTC was pretty cool and I'm glad I did it when I was in high school.

I think JROTC is a good thing. I mean, I see nothing wrong with it. And plus, most people who join ROTC want to be in the military, so it's not a recruitment wing. Some people jsut believe that if the military are involved with any way in a school, it's jsut for recruitign and such.

I haven't done JROTC but from what I've heard of it, it sounds pretty good. From what I understand, it's an optional program to join and for those who are interested in the army, military, navy and so forth, it gives them a softer version. It can also just be there for similar reasons as people do a martial arts: to show more respect, humility, caring, etc... .

The one thing I do see as a potential problem and this is probably due to my lack of understanding it but it may be a recruitment wing for those who may not wish to actually be recruited or it may put more pressure on its members to join the military, army, navy, etc... . This seems like a possible problem from my view as an uneducated outsider on this matter.
