View Full Version : When you eat out in town...

...And you have a clear view of the kitchen behind the counter, do you ever check to see how clean it is? On tuesday, since my friend and I could find no better place to eat for cheap in a strange town, we ventured over into the local McDonalds and stared at the menu for some time. My friend pointed out to me that not a single employee there was wearing a hairnet or gloves. One woman worked the deep fryer, then stumbled off to do some janitorial work, and went to make some hamburgers, without so much as wiping her hands off. She handled the bread, meat, cheese, lettuce, and everything with her bare hands. It's disgusting.

Do any of you ever take note of these things?

Yeah, I do.
Although a lot of the places in my area are relatively clean, so I don't have to worry about it much. Thank goodness!

I try not to eat at fast food restaurants for this reason (and the fact that it's not healthy). If I do, it's usually Subway so I can see what they're doing.

I'm sure some unsanitary stuff goes on behind closed doors in other restaurants that aren't fast food, but we'll never know lol.

Yeah same, I mean I know what its like to work in a kitchen and you always should keep it clean its just a safety precausion to me

Ditto, and if it's a sit down place usually I'm facing the kitchen so we know how long our food sits there and what not.

I never noticed, so whether or not the employees do the same at the local Mickey D's here, is a mystery.

When we eat out, the first thing I check is how clean it is. Then when I order, I tend to lean over the counter to see what's going on in the kitchen.

Yes, I do. If someone handles my food with dirty hands, I'll make damn sure that they remake it using gloves. I find it gross that some people are lazy like that. Most restraunts I go to however, are usually better than a fast food joint.

I do sometimes, but most places here in Geor-juh are pretty clean. When I'm at an actual restaurant, I usualy can't see that there kitchen, so I usualy don't know if it's clean or not.

sure do..they just flog the pattys around and grab all things when there un gloved hands contaminating the food. like seriously its pathetic..they either got to get a better health inspector or keep a closer watch!! its gross. i like to avoid fastfood restraunts as much as possible!
